Four (4) years of experience in Criminology, Social Sciences, or Business isrequired.A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university may be used as an alternative for the years of required experience.

The base annual salary is $40,000.08.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

If applicable, (Incumbent of position is a member of DFS’ Disaster Response Team and, in that capacity, may be required on short notice to perform duties and necessary attendant travel in support of disaster relief efforts.)

Investigative Activities

Administer oaths and affirmations in accordance with Chapter 414.411, Florida Statutes

Serve department-issued subpoenas in accordance with Chapter 414.411, Florida Statutes

Displays knowledge, skills, and ability to perform job.

Contacts and interviews sources, witnesses, and suspects in regard to allegations of public assistance fraud or other financial crimes and contacts and interviews other sources of varying relationship with the suspect

Documents investigative efforts and findings through detailed investigative notes and the preparation of sworn statements from subjects and material witnesses obtained during face-to-face interviews conducted in the field.

Identifies, collects, examines, documents, analyzes, preserves, secures, transports, maintains (through chain of custody), and prepares physical evidence related to criminal investigations.

Prepares and assembles accurate and detailed investigative affidavits with supporting documentary evidence and witness testimony for criminal prosecution.

Utilizes public and private data systems in the gathering, examination, and evaluation of supporting evidence.

Monitors arrests, prosecutions and maintains liaison with prosecutor to assist in the prosecution.

Acts as a resource and/or coordinator for other agencies requesting assistance.

Displays competence and understanding of tasks and goals of investigation and applies specialized investigative knowledge and techniques.

Applies current Florida Statutes DFS Administrative Policies and Procedures, public assistance policy, and current case law relevant to all job-related functions as applicable

Properly testifies at legal proceedings.

Examines appropriate records; develops and implements sound investigative plans.

Works as a member of a team with other investigators and/or other investigative agencies as needed.

Demonstrates effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Administrative Activities

Documents investigative hours and expenses for cost accounting purposes

Updates AIM case status in accordance with contractual requirements.

Assists Investigation Manager in screening investigative assignments.

Presents evidence and testifies to investigative findings at administrative hearings.

Assists in training of new Financial Crime Investigators

Training/Proficiency

Successfully completes all required training.

All state-issued equipment is utilized and maintained in a safe and ready manner consistent with DFS Policies and Procedures

Applies current Florida Statutes, DFS Policies and Procedures, public assistance program policy, current case law relevant to all job-related functions.

Effectively utilizes public and private data systems in conducting investigations.
