Summary The Operations Supervisor is responsible for planning, coordinating and directing a variety of related work operations and functions involving several units. Work is reviewed for efficient and economical accomplishment within priorities and controls received. Primary duties consist of the supervision of the Chiller Plant and Boiler Plant. Acts as a Contracting Officers Representative on multiple Service Contracts and works closely with projects on all new station level projects. Responsibilities Major Duties Include (but not limited to): Arrange major and minor repairs associated with the chiller and boiler plants. Create documents such as Statement of Work, Independent Government Cost Estimates, Responsible Source Lists, and Quality Assurance Surveillance Plans on multiple annual service contracts. Monitor and control the handling and disposal of liquid and solid hazardous materials in coordination with Safety Specialist. Supervise various station level contracts and perform final and progress work inspections on all Operations contracts under $500,000.00. Serve as Contracting Officer's Representative (COR) on multiple service contracts (must obtain COR certification within 6 months of employment. Analyze vendor proposals and service contracts. Coordinate service calls for replacement or repairs. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/06/2024. EXPERIENCE: A specific length of training and experience is not required, but you must show evidence of training or experience of sufficient scope and quality of your ability to do the work of this position. Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Federal Wage System Qualification Standards. Physical Requirements: The largest portion of the Operations Supervisor's time is spent in the office, but frequent inspections require being out in inclement weather, checking work in confined spaces and high areas. The Operations Supervisor must be physically able to stand, stoop, turn, crouch, and balance in difficult positions, and carry up to 40 pounds. Incumbent must have the physical ability to supervise the operation of the machinery and repairs on the equipment. The must possess the mental and emotional stability to perform the job. The Operations Supervisor must also be physically able to climb ladders where the portions of the system being worked on are in hard to reach areas. An annual employee physical is required. Working Conditions: Incumbent maintains a good working environment to encourage subordinates to participate in management goals, and to promote efficient and economical work operations. Organizes, coordinates, and directs the work activities of personnel of units within the Operations Section. Assigns, explains and provides training for work requirements to subordinate supervisors. The primary working environment is typical of such places as offices, training rooms, and libraries. The work area is adequately lighted, heated and ventilated. There may be occasional exposure to moderate risk or discomforts in storage areas or hazardous waste sites.
