The purpose of the Herbicide Technician is to provide professional, top quality, and knowledgeable services to spray highway components in the roadway such as guardrails, sidewalks, etc. This is not seasonal work. This is a permanent full-time position Monday - Friday, 7:00 am to 5:00 pm. This is a safety sensitive position and requires working in a fast pace team environment in various elements of weather performing multiple job responsibilities.

Essential Functions, Duties, and Responsibilities

Tasks may include (based on services offered within assigned region), but are not limited to the following:

Administers pesticide and fertilizer products to lawns and shrubs according to schedule, safety procedures and label instructions

Irrigating plant material

Maintain service schedules for all customers on assigned route, calling customer prior to their service if needed

Provide excellent communication and people skills to build trust and create positive customer experiences

Ability to adjust and adapt to timelines and workloads

Communicate effectively with management and team members

Respond to customer requests in a timely manner

Continuously take a safety-first approach

Complete and submit service-related paperwork in a timely and orderly fashion

Completion of our initial technical training and participation in regular update training to stay current with proven practices and methods to decide on the most efficient solutions for customer's needs

Drives company service vehicles to and from job locations

Adhere and abide to all driving laws/company policies when operating company vehicles

Maintain assigned service vehicle, equipment and tools in clean/good working condition

Ability to conduct pre and post vehicle, trailer, and equipment checks

Additional projects as assigned

Must attend and complete any required FDACS CEU requirements

Saturday and evening work may be required

Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills

Required:

A High School Diploma/GED and at least 2-4 year of experience and or training working in the commercial/residential lawn & ornamental pest control customer service industry

Reliable transportation to and from work

Ability to identify the basic lawns, shrubs, and trees common to the north Florida service area

Understands and demonstrates proficiency with products and techniques used to maintain lawn & shrub health

Understand and adhere to label directions on each product used and practice correct mixing and transportation procedures

Ability to interact regularly with customers to ensure their satisfaction

Must be able to obtain required license and/or certification(s) as required by federal, state or local government

Position requires successful completion of company approved training program

Ability to calculate basic math

Must have excellent written and verbal communication, with emphasis on customer relations

Must be able to work Saturdays

Must be able to work in excess of an 8-hour day if company needs dictate

Must be at least 18 years of age

Must be able to pass seven-year criminal background check

Must be able to pass substance abuse testing

Must be able to pass three-year motor vehicle report and meet minimum eligibility requirements criteria of insurance carrier

Associated Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions.

Ability to interpret an extensive variety of information and deal with abstract and concrete variables.

Ability to read and understand product/PPE labels accurately to ensure that they are properly applied, stored and disposed of in compliance with State and Federal laws.

Ability to establish strong internal and external relationships.

Ability to work with limited supervision and complete all scheduled productions stops.

License/Certification

Required:

Valid permanent driver’s license in the state of Florida with a clean driving record per company standards.

GI – BMP Certificate

FDACS LCM License

Working Environment

Works in outside environment and is subject to inclement weather, hot, humid, cold, rainy, and other temperature and weather-related conditions. Team Member is subject to significant noise causing the need to shout in order to be heard above surrounding noise level. Works with chemicals and other industry-related products.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Team member is required to have visual acuity for close, distance, color, peripheral, depth and focus to operate motor vehicles and/or heavy equipment

Subject to outside environmental conditions including atmospheric conditions of one or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory systems: fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation

No effective protection from the weather and from temperature changes

Physical requirements include exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of forces frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move object

Must have the ability to sit, stand, talk, hear, walk, balance, climb, stoop, grasp, crawl, crouch, kneel,

Must be able to push, pull and lift a minimum of 50lbs; perform repetitive motions; use hands and arms to handle, feel or reach; walk or ride on uneven surfaces for extended periods
