Duties include: Receive/ inventory and operationally check instruments from the shipper. Verify inventory against State instrument database. Calibrate and repair radiation detection equipment belonging to the state of Florida, Bureau of Radiation Control. Calibrate and repair radiation detection equipment belonging to risk and host counties for Nuclear Power Plant Accident Response. Calibrate and repair radiation detection equipment belonging to non-risk and host counties for response to Radiological terrorist attacks / incidents. Coordinate the distribution of radiation protection equipment to all divisions of the Bureau of Radiation Control and nuclear power plant host and risk counties throughout the state of Florida. Coordinate the distribution of radiation protection equipment to all non-host and risk counties throughout the state of Florida. Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment used to test, repair and calibrate radiological instruments. Maintain repair parts and sufficient supplies to support repair and calibration of radiological instruments. Coordinate with vendors and manufactures to obtain Return Authorization to ship instruments beyond the capability of the calibration lab back for repairs / calibration. Organize and maintain database files and documentation of calibration and repair certifications, quality assurance and quality control procedures, environmental and laboratory radiation surveys Perform radiological surveys, as assigned, at the state environmental radiation laboratory in Orlando. Serves as duty officer. Provide support for Preventative Radiological Nuclear Detection operations. Conduct Low Level Waste Inspections. Assist in training operations for DOH staff and Medical Reserve Corps. Serve as a member of the emergency response team during simulated and actual emergencies. Perform other duties as required. The incumbent is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Florida Administrative Code Chapter 60L-36.003. Available on a 24 hour a day basis for response to radiation emergencies. Perform duties as a member of the State Radiation Emergency Response Team. Must have and maintain a valid State of Florida driver’s license. Must be able to lift 60 pounds of equipment. Must receive a minimum score of 70% on each written exam of the required core training modules and must attend all required core training courses designated in the training and qualification procedures. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of calibration and quality assurance terminology, principles, and techniques. Knowledge of the terminology, principles and analytical techniques of radiation. Additional Requirements Available on a 24 hour-a-day basis for response to radiation emergencies.
