The FGCC is charged with investigating and enforcing Florida pari-mutuel and gaming statutes and rules. The FGCC is searching for an Accountant III to perform a wide variety of accounting functions in the Accounting Section. This position is responsible for assisting with the processing of revenue transactions. Preferred Qualifications:

Two (2) years of FLAIR entry experience.

One (1) year of Revenue experience.

Two years of professional or nonprofessional accounting or bookkeeping experience or College education from an accredited institution can substitute for each year of required work experience, which includes two courses in accounting, business, or finance or a combination of the above work experience and college education.

Position Overview and Responsibilities:

This is a dynamic position that will be responsible for assisting with various FGCC’s fiscal functions. This position reports to the Chief of Financial Support Services and the duties also include, but are not limited to, the following:

Revenue:

Assists with the submission of Revenue deposits that may be processed directly to the agency’s financial institution or prepared for courier deposit.

Assists with processing Revenue entries in Florida PALM and/or Florida Accounting Information Resource System (FLAIR) in accordance with Florida Statute 215.422, Reference Guide for State Expenditures, Attorney General Opinions, Florida Administrative Code, Chief Financial Officer Memoranda, and processing procedures of the Bureau of Auditing.

Assists vendors and employees with invoice payment issues.

Prepares vouchers for submission to the Bureau of Auditing at Department of Financial Services.

Maintaining Check Log:

Logs all incoming checks for the Bureau of Accounting.

Ensures checks are properly endorsed.

Other Duties:

Routes incoming telephone calls for the Accounting Office.

Assists with pre-indexing of documents for scanning for accounting.

Conducts quality assurance of the scanned documents for record retention.

Maintains detailed desktop procedures.

Other duties as assigned.
