AECOM is seeking an experienced Rail Structural Engineer to support a wide range of public infrastructure and building projects throughout the Atlanta, Georgia area. This role will involve the planning, analysis, design, and inspection of structural systems for projects such as transportation infrastructure, municipal facilities, and other public works. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in structural engineering, experience working with relevant design codes and standards, and the ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Performs specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineerGathers and correlates basic engineering data using established and well-defined proceduresWorks on detailed or routine engineering assignments involving calculations and relatively simple testsProposes approach to solve new problems encountered using modifications of standard procedures or methods developed in previous assignmentsIdentifies discrepancies in results and recommends corrective actionsProvides guidance and mentoring to entry-level engineers on structural design principles and methodologiesPerforms work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule with little supervisionIndependently performs all tasks necessary to complete primary design elements for engineering worksConducts structural analysis and modeling using industry-standard software and CAD tools to evaluate rail infrastructure designsVerifies compliance with applicable rail industry standards, safety regulations, and design codes throughout the engineering processCollaborates with cross-functional teams including project managers, civil engineers, and construction specialists to ensure design feasibility and constructabilityPrepares comprehensive technical documentation, design reports, and calculations to support project deliverables and regulatory submissionsPerforms site inspections and field verification activities to assess existing rail structures and validate design assumptionsOptimizes structural designs for cost-effectiveness and performance while maintaining safety and quality standardsPerformance at this level requires developmental experience in a professional engineering position
