The QA Specialist will work side by side with development and business partners to determine optimal ETL test coverage and ensure high quality software is delivered to our customers. They will be responsible for extracting data applications of transformation logic, and uploading data in target tables. They are responsible for designing, testing, and troubleshooting the company's data storage system before it goes live along with planning, executing, and managing the testing effort for a variety of projects across multiple lines of business and technology platforms. The QA Specialist is expected to learn the business and technical components of an application to appropriately communicate risk and status to senior project management and executives. Responsibilities:
  • Write test data scripts, based on ETL mapping artifacts
  • Execute data scripts and detailed analysis on the scripts
  • Create strategies and test cases for applications that use ETL components
  • Data mining and detailed data analysis on data warehousing systems
  • Provide input and support big data testing initiative
  • Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status
  • Document all problems and assists in their resolution.
  • Resource will be required to lead and perform hands on testing of business reports and data feeds that flow into and out of the general ledger system
  • Responsible for providing inputs to Test Strategy document(s), Test Plan(s), Testing Tracker(s), Test Execution Status Reports, and Defect Reports
  • Coordinate process team input into testing deliverables
  • Responsible for creating and executing test scripts, reviewing test scripts written by offshore team, and KT to offshore team to avoid any knowledge gaps
  • Manage day-to-day activity of onshore and offshore testers, including manual and automated testing
  • Ensure testing is on schedule and escalate any issues/concerns
  • Ensure defects are assigned and being worked on
  • Understanding of end-to-end testing cycles using agile and waterfall methodologies
  • Hands-on experience in driving the QA release cycle End to end, defect reporting.
  • Hands-on work experience in preparing test plans, test scripts, and requirements traceability matrix

Required Skills:
  • Experience analyzing ETL mapping documents
  • Create and execute strategies and test cases for applications that use ETL components
  • Data warehouse testing experience
  • Experience testing Waterfall/Agile Development Projects
  • Experience testing mission critical Financial Applications
  • Hands on experience in relational databases and database architecture
  • Hands on experience interpreting and understanding data models and ER diagrams
  • Very strong SQL query writing skills
  • Experience in end-to-end ETL testing (data migration, conversion, data quality check)
  • Experience in Automation (Preferred: Tosca, QTP)
  • Familiarity with Unix commands
  • Ability to write backend data driven test plans to support database data validations
  • Banking domain experience specifically in General Ledger, Accounting, or Foreign Exchange concepts/systems
  • Hands on experience in HP ALM/QC
  • At least 5 years of experience in test planning and execution
  • Understanding and use of various test design techniques
  • Experience working with Development, Test Leads/Test Coordinators, Production Support, Change Management, and Business partners
  • End-to-end process test coordination experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills

Desired Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a quantitative/technical field (e.g. Computer Science, Statistics, Engineering)
  • Knowledge of data management fundamentals and data storage principles
  • Strong experience with hands-on data analysis of large data sets.
  • Advanced SQL skills

General Description:

Responsible for testing and delivering complex software requirements to accomplish business outcomes. Ensures that software is tested to meet functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Helps condition and generate test data, builds and executes both manual and automated test suites, record and communicate the test results, and assist with triaging defects. Ensures regression test suites are maintained and well designed. Develops detailed, comprehensive and well-structured test cases based on functional, non-functional, and compliance requirements. Leads test planning, usually at a team level. When part of a Scrum team, ensures stories are well refined and contains clear acceptance criteria. Ensures in-scope and out-of-scope items are clearly identified during test planning. Implements the test framework for the team. Leads test case reviews and works with subject matter experts and stakeholders to ensure test coverage. Identifies automation opportunities and develops test automation for applicable test types. Helps condition and generate test data and ensure data compliance requirements are met on all levels of test environments. Assists in identifying and managing sensitive test data. Executes test cases, including manual and automated tests, and records test results. Reports issues and defects along with the appropriate background information for review. Uses testing tools and follows processes to complete testing on a given test environment, and assists with fulfillment of necessary steps required to promote code base to higher level environments. Maintains and catalogs test suites across test types (Smoke, Integration, Regression, etc.) Individual contributor.
