Then we are looking for you!This is a full-time position located in Augusta and allows for partial telework with management approval.Core Responsibilities:As the MaineCare Accounting Analyst, you will be responsible for: Ensuring compliance with the DAFS' financial accounting, financial reporting and cash management requirements Completing financial analysis, account reconciliations and journal entries that the program activities necessitate Ensuring proper accounting is followed and as necessary implementing accounting corrective actions This position will be cross trained with others in the MaineCare Accounting Team to ensure operations run smoothly. This includes Medicaid budgeting functions, claims and non-claims analysis, and analytical functions. Frequently interact with State and Federal financial authorities and senior governmental leaders Promote a team environment that will work together to provide DHHS with program financial information for planning and decision-making purposesThe DHHS Financial Service Center is a supportive and friendly environment that fosters professional growth, teamwork, and collaboration with DHHS. You will be satisfied knowing you have helped DHHS executives and program managers deliver vital services to the people of Maine.Minimum Qualifications:In order to qualify, you must have a six (6) year combination of education and/or experience which includes a Degree in Business Administration or closely related field -AND- two (2) years of responsible experience in accounting, cost, budget and/or financial analysis or a related field. Directly related professional experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Preference will be extended to candidates with professional certification as a CPA, CIA, CGFM or equivalent -OR- an advanced degree in a related field such as an MBA. The background of well-qualified candidates will demonstrate some of the following competencies:

A thorough knowledge of GAAP/GASB evidenced through proactive work experience and/or formal education (please list courses or provide transcripts).

Experience in accounting, and operational management.

A proven ability to identify, enhance and implement process improvements.
