BluePearl Pet Hospital in Augusta, GA is seeking a Surgery Veterinary Technician to join our team while supporting our exceptional board-certified surgeon. We are offering up to a $5k sign-on bonus for qualified candidates .Schedule: Tues-Fri + occasional on-call rotation once training has been completed.Pay: $23.00 - $38.50 / hourThis pay band is dependent on experience and advancement through our competency assessment tool. Candidates with VTS credentialing are eligible for compensation commensurate with experience.As a Surgery Veterinary Technician, you will:

Assist in patient procedures using knowledge of anesthesia and analgesia related protocols and procedures, including formulating anesthetic plans tailored to individual patient needs.

Monitor anesthesia, trouble shoot anesthetic complications, and make appropriate interventions.

Intravenous catheter placement, endotracheal intubation, and anesthetic equipment use and maintenance.

Perform physical exam; accurately counts heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.

Understand normal vital parameters and alerts doctor when abnormal.

Set up intravenous fluids and CRI’s.

Continuous expansion of knowledge and skillset: advanced anesthetic skills including epidurals, difficult airway intubation, and critical case management.

Operate all brands of intravenous fluid pumps and can troubleshoot errors.

Comfortable with medical math.

Ability to take patient through entire procedure from start to finish (pre-op, monitoring, post-op, and recovery)

Manage appointments, obtain histories, medical record keeping, invoicing, patient discharges, etc.

Disconnect and connect patients from intravenous fluids aseptically.

Monitor patient response to fluid therapy including signs of overload.

Our Continuing Education Plan includes $500/year reimbursement for CVT and $750/year for VTS. The Continuing Education allowance can roll over up to $1,500 for CVT and VTS associates. Non-Credentialed, full-time Paraprofessionals are eligible for an annual CE stipend of $150. Full-time CVT associates also receive 8 hours of CE paid hours each year. Full-time VTS associates receive 12 hours of CE paid each year. Paid CE hours can be carried over year to year up to a maximum of 24 hours.
