Job Title: Certified Phlebotomist IJob DescriptionThe main function of a Certified Phlebotomist I is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations.Responsibilities

Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, and decontaminate equipment.

Update patient information and collect and store specimens according to established procedures.

Clearly and courteously explain the process of venipuncture, blood drawing, and other specimen collection (e.g., urine or fecal).

Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and/or butterfly needles.

Fully understand all physicians' orders.

Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes.

Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order.

Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% correctness.

Package specimens for transport and store specimen samples according to required temperatures.

Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes, accurately label, and follow different procedures as outlined by specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity.

Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.

Attend annual department training sessions.

Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries.

Essential Skills

Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment required.

Minimum of 2 years of work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

High School Diploma.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience in OBGYN settings.

Ability to handle all age groups.

Experience with in-house patient services.

Ability to perform 25 sticks daily.

2 years of experience as a Certified Phlebotomist required.

Work EnvironmentThe position is part-time, requiring 36 hours per week, Monday to Thursday from 8 AM to 6 PM. The site is closed on Fridays. The work environment is within an OBGYN office, and the dress code should be professional attire suitable for a medical office.Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.00Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
