ELEMENTARY TEACHER AIDE
Island School (ischool.org) seeks an Elementary Teacher Aide with a commitment to support our elementary faculty in a high-inspiring independent school setting to begin in late September for the 2024-2025 school year. Pay range for a full-time Teacher Aide role for 24-25 depending on years of experience: $23 - $25 per hour.
Island School is a WASC/HAIS accredited PK-12 independent day school with a total enrollment of just over 500 students. The school is located on the rural island of Kaua`i, the northwestern most inhabited island in the Hawaiian archipelago, which, due to its stunning natural beauty, is known as the "Garden Island." The successful candidate should have the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues, and a desire to be part of an independent school community.
It is expected the successful candidate would:
Assist and support the classroom teacher during class time
Monitor students during morning and lunch breaks
Accompany students to enrichment classes
Occasionally serve as the back-up for our after-school care (Do Drop Inn) from 3:00-5:15
Perform additional duties as needed
In addition, a candidate should possess the following personal and professional qualifications:
Experience working with elementary age students
Ability to manage students and appropriately correct behavior
Ability to follow guidance and instruction of teacher
Commitment to and alignment with the School's mission and vision
Associate’s Degree, preferred
