Job Summary

Are you passionate about helping people grow and succeed? Hawaii Petroleum is seeking a Training & Development Specialist who will be the driving force behind our companywide learning initiatives. You’ll design and deliver impactful training programs that empower employees at every level to sharpen their skills and boost performance.

In this role, you will collaborate across teams to ensure every program aligns with our organizational goals and meets industry best practices. Beyond training, you will also manage our centralized document library—keeping records organized and accessible for the entire company.

What You Will Do

Coordinate and administer training plans for employees including new hire training as well as continuous training for compliance and growth-based learning.

Serve as the company expert for our learning management system (LMS).

Track and report on all learning within the company including required self-paced training and ensuring deadlines are met wherever applicable.

Develop, source, and deliver engaging training content and curricula for employees at all levels, using a comprehensive training and development library.

Ensure compliance standards are maintained including but not limited to DOT, OSHA, Cyber Security and internal Ethics training.

Support new hire orientation immediately after onboarding, working with managers on maximizing the learning and development experience.

Maintain Records including tracking training completion hours and rates, and certification status in the Learning Management System (LMS).

Help assess and develop high potential employees for opportunities within the company for future growth.

Other duties and special projects as assigned.

Education and Experience

Seeking candidates 18 years of age or older with a valid Type 3 Drivers License.

A college degree, or equivalent professional experience in Human Resources and/or training and development is strongly preferred.

Professional certifications in training and development (e.g. Certified Professional in Learning and Performance, Certified Training Professional) are strongly encouraged.

Professional knowledge of instructional design principles including adult learning theory and varying training methods and techniques is required.

Proficiency in administration of e-learning platforms for assignment and monitoring of existing and new trainings including a strong understanding of data reports and analytics.

Strong organizational and project-oriented abilities are needed using analytics and data to measure training metrics.

The ability to adapt to a fast paced and evolving work environment and build relationships with multiple stakeholders at all levels.

Strong project coordination skills and the ability to coordinate multiple training initiatives simultaneously.

Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage and inspire participants from varying organizational backgrounds.

A professional understanding of learning management systems (LMS) utilization.

Excellent computer software and systems knowledge including Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and OneNote is required.

A general aptitude for learning new technologies and keeping up with industry trends is essential.

Applicants must be able to obtain eFoodhandlers certification and TB clearance.
