The Salvation Army Addiction Treatment Services (ATS) is seeking to fill a full-time Admissions Counselor position. Under the general supervision of the Residential/Admissions Clinical Supervisor, the Admissions Counselor performs a wide range of assessment/intake-related duties. Maintain significant contact with public and private agencies. Represents Addiction Treatment Services in efforts to promote public awareness of the agency's programs and substance abuse related issues. Responsible for performing comprehensive assessments, coordinating with referring agencies and admitting clients into the ATS treatment continuum.
Certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) or an advanced clinical degree in human services, such as a master’s in clinical psychology or master’s in counseling psychology, or social work preferred. For non-CSACs, must be willing to work toward obtaining CSAC certification within two years of hire. Two years direct work experience in substance use disorder treatment services preferred. Must have a demonstrated ability to produce effective treatment plans and updates and perform appropriate discharge planning including producing viable discharge summaries. Requires effective verbal and written communications skills, maturity, insight and sound judgment.
