A 10 ache Farm in Kula, off Omaopio, seeks a full time farm apprentice. The Farm grows coffee, citrus, other tree fruits, herbs, lilikoi and flowers for essential oil production. The candidate will work closely with the Farm Manager to continue creating a diversified, organic, self -sustaining farm.

The ideal candidate should have a love for working outdoors, a desire to work with the land, is self -motivated and can assist with the ongoing growth of the farm. We are a young farm and are looking for help with expansion and maintenance. This is a long term position and we hope that the growth of the Farm is linked to the growth of the Farm apprentice.

Duties include:

Mowing of all grass areas as needed.

Weed whacking farm borders and edges

Harvesting of diverse fruits, herbs and flowers.

Working the Saturday Kula market with the Farm Manager (flexible weekday time off for the Saturday hours)

Ongoing projects and plantings as per Farm Manger

Weeding beds as needed but at least 4-5 hours per week

Open to leaning propagation techniques such as seed starting, cuttings and division.

Tree pruning under supervision of Farm Manager who is a certified Arborist. Training will be given.

Irrigation repair. Training will be given but some knowledge is a plus

Keeping all hand tools ( chainsaws, weed eaters, hedge trimmers etc. ) in good working order

Routine maintenance and cleaning of Mowers.

Other Duties as discussed with the Farm Manager

We offer between $22 and $26 per hour as a starting rate. The hourly rate will be assessed after three months. Increases are based on experience, motivation, ability to learn, attendance, attention to details and enthusiasm for working on the farm. This is hard work. Ya gotta love it.

This is a full time position so we are looking for a commitment of 30-40 hours per month. Reliability is a must.

Two weeks paid vacation after one year’s work, medical and other insurances covered.

The Farm Manager has worked in Landscape design and gardening for over 20 years on the island and is a certified Arborist and Master Gardener If you want to learn, can work hard and seek to grow your knowledge with us, this is a great position for you. We in turn will value this person’s contribution to keep the farm going
