Summary:The Idaho Department of Correction has a vacancy for a Computer Lab Instructor, at the North Idaho Correctional Institution (NICI) in Cottonwood, Idaho. Applicants must be willing to work in a Correctional environment and the incumbent will be required to work in direct contact with residents both one-on-one and in a group setting. The desirable candidate should have experience in supervising and maintaining a computer lab and server, which would include being able to install, upgrade, configure, and replace both hardware and software. Responsibilities:
Provide individual and group instruction in a Computer Lab and evaluate student progress.
Help residents in a state correctional facility complete computer application certificates and support other education opportunities using college and career readiness standards.
Monitor student's behavior to maintain discipline and ensure safety and security of staff, equipment, materials, and other students.
Provide IT support for classroom computers.
Supervise and maintain a Computer Lab through knowledge of computer maintenance and educational software.
Install, upgrade, customize and remove software.
Perform diagnostics of hardware.
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must be eligible for an Idaho Standard Secondary Education Certificate; OR eligible for an Occupational Specialist Certificate; OR have a bachelor's degree and two years’ experience teaching individuals in a group setting.
Willingness to work in a correctional setting.
Desirable Qualifications:
Experience in supervising, instructing and training students in a computer lab.
Experience maintaining lab computers to ensure proper working order.
Able to work well with largely non-technical clientele and able to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff with differing levels of computer knowledge.
Experience in network configuration and maintenance.
Familiarity using educational technology/tools (Google Workspace, Sheets, Docs, etc.).
