We are looking for a dedicated Coord Laboratory like you to be a part of our team.Job Summary and QualificationsResponsible for the overall technical and administrative operation of the hematology dept: Performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding in one or more areas of the clinical laboratory, assists in instructing other personnel as assigned, and performs clinical laboratory tests and procedures which require the exercise of independent judgment and responsibility. Assures that the highest degree of quality patient care is maintained at all times. Directs daily operations including decision-making, response to problems, identifying issues and errors and taking corrective action. Demonstrates technical expertise. Monitors, maintains, and controls departmental supply inventory and expense. Assists with development of operating and capital budgets. Contributes to good employee relationships and provides for staff development. Responsible for development and retention of technical staff. Adheres to proper resource allocation and coordination. Ensures maximum efficiency in use of personnel. Develops shift assignments to ensure proper coverage of the department. Demonstrates and encourages innovation and creativity. Responds to changes in clinical laboratory medicine. Motivates and educates staff to challenge traditional operational methods; i.e., scheduling, processes, etc. Manages and shares daily workload. Uses time wisely. Provides a productive atmosphere. Manages specialty areas and/or assignments in compliance with general laboratory standards. Ensures competency testing is current and documented for personnel working in respective department(s). Writes and conducts performance appraisals as well as conducts coaching and counseling sessions as necessary with documentation. Provides in services and training. Demonstrates thorough knowledge of test methodologies and quality control. Responsible for the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures. Responsible for an “inspection ready” department at all times. Develops a continuous process to achieve this state of readiness. Maintains good communication with laboratory leadership, pathologists, co-workers, team members and customers. Respects patient confidentiality. Demonstrates an awareness of patient/client expectations and seeks to always satisfy. Demonstrates proficiency in all laboratory computer related tasks. Provides training to employees as necessary. Ensures that all instrument maintenance is performed and documented. Administers to all established quality control procedures. Troubleshoots instruments effectively when appropriate. Develops and monitors a departmental quality improvement program. Trains new employees, meets timelines for completion with accurate documentation. Promotes positive customer relations, which contributes to the strength and growth of the department. Operates with minimal supervision and must discern the necessity of informing the Laboratory Director of unusual concerns and situations. Effectively relates to customers and demonstrates service oriented attitude. Instructs and provides practical training to clinical laboratory science students. Adheres to the Hospital’s policies and demonstrates compliance with the Code of Ethics and the Laboratory Billing Compliance Plan. Adheres to the Hospital’s Safety Policies and demonstrates safe practices in patient care areas. Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm. Participates in Continuing Education activities. Completes mandatory in services within allotted time frame. Slack times at work should be used to perform duties such as cleaning and disinfecting the work area, stocking and rotating supplies, performing equipment maintenance and maintaining continuing education activities.Education & Experience: Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or Related Sciences Required 3 years clinical laboratory experience Required Or equivalent combination of education and/or experience Licenses, Certifications, & Training: Certified by: ASCP, HEW, HHS, or AMT Required.Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center (https://eirmc.com/) (EIRMC) is a full-service hospital with 318+ patient beds.
