Job DescriptionLocation: Chicago, ILHospital: RUSH University Medical CenterDepartment: Interventional RadiologyWork Type: Full Time (Total FTE 1.0)Shift: Shift 1Work Schedule: (2) 12-hour shifts and (2) 8 -hour shiftsSign-on Bonus: $10,000Summary:The IR Technologist 2 primary responsibilities will be in the area of medical instrumentation operation, use of permanent fluoroscopic and digital x-ray systems, operation of CT and Combined CT fluoroscopic systems, ultrasounds and other diagnostic and therapeutic devices. The IR Tech 2 will demonstrate understanding and basic knowledge of all imaging equipment with the ability to independently operate all imaging equipment. The IR Tech 2 will independently post-process images. This role will provide fluoroscopic and CT Imaging for the broad patient population applying protocols defined by the organization’s Radiologists. This role will produce images that meet the quality expectations of the department. The technologist skills and knowledge will be utilized in a variety of diagnostic and interventional procedures. The position actively supports the Hospital’s and Department’s Continuous Quality Improvement and customer service goals, individually and as an effective team member. Exemplifies the Rush mission, vision and ICARE values and acts in accordance with Rush policies and procedures.Responsibilities: The IR tech 2 will provide patient and family focused care that supports a welcoming and supportive environment and a positive patient experience The IR Tech 2 will at times be required to directly assist the attending physician/fellow during procedures by setting up the instrument table, prepping and draping the patient, assisting with catheter and device manipulations, prepping of devices/implants The IR Tech 2 may function in a circulator role during a procedure. In this capacity, the IR Tech will monitor the status and condition of the patient and act as an unsterile assistant to personnel directly performing the procedure. Knowledge of supplies, equipment and procedural resources and their location will be necessary. Reports supply shortage or equipment failure to section supervisor Produces work in an efficient manner that meets departmental productivity standards Understands and follows departmental protocols and procedures in the performance of exams and produces work that meets quality standards The Technologist will attend outside educational programs and attend Departmental meetings and conferences for staff development.Technical Practice The IR Tech 2 will be responsible for the technical operation and have ability to perform basic troubleshooting of radiographic, fluoroscopic, video, CT and digital processing equipment. The IR Tech 2 will set-up, calibrate and operate the instrumentation used for the management of Interventional Radiology procedures The IR Tech 2 will be responsible for the integrity as well as the archival of the patient’s procedural data. Due to the complex nature and potential hazards within the IR Lab, the Technologist will be required to help maintain a safe and organized work environment. The IR Tech 2 may be called upon to perform certain additional tasks that may be assigned by the Medical Director, Manager or Director.Required Job Qualifications Graduate from an accredited Radiography program Valid Illinois Emergency Management Agency (IEMA) license. Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Proficient in modality physics and operation of equipment Valid BLS certification Demonstrates good interpersonal and communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment. Working knowledge of the IT systems that support the modality 1-2 years of experience to hire. Minimum 6 months to transfer from level 1Physical Demands Stand up to three hours wearing up to a 40-pound lead apron. Work in an environment with limited exposure to radiation. Work in dim light for three or more hours.
