Our Chicago branch is looking for a new Road Logistics Intern to join our Road Logistics team.Your RoleThe Road Logistics Intern will manage the coordination of customer shipments using contracted rates and ensuring capacity with qualified carriers/partners. Specifically, the Logistics Intern will be part of a team responsible for coordinating transport activities by completing the necessary bookings with our partners and preparing the required documentation to ensure specific requirements are met (Transit Times, Carrier selection, Routings). All of these activities are to be performed in compliance with rules and regulations governing ground transport. You will report to the Road Logistics Operations Manager.Your Responsibilities
Confirm shipment information with shippers via email and phone, and facilitate communication between the shipper, carrier, and customer
Dispatch pickups for each shipment and monitor their status to ensure they are moving as scheduled
Coordinate pickup/delivery appointments and work directly with carriers to ensure loads are picked up and delivered
Manage overall customer service to maintain excellent customer relations
Help provide tactical solutions that improve daily operations
Your Skills and Experiences
Pursuing a Supply Chain/Business related degree
Proficient with computers includingthe following applications: Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook and Vision
In a dynamic operational environment, solve urgent issues that are disrupting Kuehne + Nagel customer supply chains, such as successful and on-time deliveries.
