Medical Assistant & Medical Scribe
Full-Time (Monday–Friday; Some Early Evenings; 1–2 Saturdays/Month)
Compensation: $20–$25 per hour
Benefits: Paid holidays; 1 week PTO after 6 months; 2 weeks PTO annually after 1 year
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Medical Assistant & Medical Scribe is a dual-role clinical support position responsible for ensuring efficient patient flow, high-quality documentation, and seamless provider support in a busy OB/GYN practice. This role combines hands-on clinical assistance with real-time medical scribing, requiring excellent multitasking, attention to detail, and the ability to anticipate provider needs in a fast-paced environment. The MA/Scribe works directly with the physician throughout the day, providing both clinical care and accurate encounter documentation to support patient safety, compliance, and timely billing.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Support
Room patients, collect vitals, and obtain medical histories.
Prepare exam rooms and assist the provider with procedures and exams.
Maintain clinical supplies, cleanliness, and readiness of patient care areas.
Triage phone calls, messages, and prescription requests to the appropriate staff.
Review, track, and route labs, diagnostics, and results; promptly alert the provider.
Support patient education, instructions, and follow-up care.
Ensure efficient patient flow and a positive patient experience.
Medical Scribing
Provide real-time documentation of patient encounters directly into the EMR.
Accurately document histories, exam findings, assessments, and plans as directed by the physician.
Enter orders, notes, and encounter details before, during, and after each visit.
Maintain accuracy, clarity, and completeness of all documentation.
Ensure documentation supports timely chart closure and billing compliance.
Administrative Responsibilities
Schedule surgeries, coordinate pre-op requirements, and manage follow-up logistics.
Organize incoming faxes and route documents appropriately.
Assist with forms, correspondence, and administrative tasks that support provider efficiency.
Perform additional duties as needed to support daily operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required
Minimum 2 years experience in a medical practice or hospital setting.
Proficiency in medical terminology and clinical workflows.
Strong written communication and fast, accurate typing.
EMR experience required; Athena experience preferred.
Ability to stand, walk, and move alongside the provider for extended periods.
Strong organization, follow-through, and customer service skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work under pressure.
Professional, mature, and reliable demeanor.
Preferred
OB/GYN clinical experience.
Prior scribing experience.
Surgical scheduling experience.
