Are you a newly admitted attorney who is still looking for that first “real lawyer” position?
My plaintiff’s personal injury law firm is looking for someone to start part-time with the expectation of 20 hours per week doing real, actual legal work including court appearances and some client contact.
I would prefer to hire someone who has some experience clerking with a plaintiff’s side personal injury firm, but that is strictly speaking not necessary. What counts is that you have some real interest in doing litigation. I am willing to train you to do the work.
Open to making this a full-time role if your performance justifies it.
You need to be able to make court appearances at the Daley Center and do remote appearance in other counties. These will be routine court calls. I will not ask you to cover court hearings where something of substance is likely to occur. Some work will be in office, but much can be done remotely.
Other tasks are likely to include: attending depositions with clients (I will handle the prep), drafting pleadings and motions, drafting and responding to discovery, legal research and writing. Willing to expand the scope of what you are doing as your experience and competency warrants to include more substantive work and client contact.
You will get actual training and not just be thrown into the deep end of the pool.
