Job description

Transportation company specializing in refrigerated and hazardous materials is seeking a highly motivated, self-driven, dedicated and passionate individual to join our team. The Safety Manager will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees by implementing and maintaining safety protocols and procedures. The candidate needs have a strong background in transportation safety, excellent communication skills, and a proactive approach to risk management.

## Responsibilities

- Develop and implement safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations

- File, obtain and keep current all hazardous and company held permits

- Conduct regular safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and risks for company vehicles, drivers, and facilities

- Investigate accidents or incidents to determine root causes and implement corrective actions

- Provide safety training, orientation, emergency response procedures and ongoing education to all employees and drivers

- Maintain records of all safety-related incidents, training sessions, inspections, incidents and compliance

- Collaborate with management to address any safety concerns or issues promptly

-Developing strategies and implementation for improving overall safety performance of the company and all employees

-Monitor driver compliance with safety regulations, hours of service, and drug/alcohol testing requirements

- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices

- Understanding, compliance and implementation of all policies and regulations required by OSHA, DOT, FMCSA

## Skills

- Strong knowledge of OSHA, USDOT and FMCSA rules and regulations

- Strong knowledge in handling refrigerated and hazardous freight shipments

- Strong knowledge of occupational health and safety regulations

- Experience in workers' compensation processes and procedures

- Proficient in report writing for incident investigations and safety documentation

- Familiarity with EPA regulations related to workplace safety

- Ability to develop and deliver effective safety training programs

- Certified Safety Professional certification is preferred

- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

- Experience in training development for safety programs

- Ability to fabricate solutions for safety equipment or protocols

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

-Computer proficient in MS applications, transportation software
