Description: Replacement for contingent worker PROJECT SCOPE: Sustaining Engineering department, where they support products already released out in the Field. There is a shortage of semi-conductors globally. Because of these shortages, they have to Cost reductions based on approving alternate vendors. Increased need project Cost reduction is the key part of this role. DAY2DAY List of components assigned to different engineers. The team meets every day for quick updates, the components will be assigned to you, and you develop alternate test plans to test them. If the component needs to be tested, they have a lab and engineers to help. Some of this testing can be data-sheet comparisons, and some of the work will be using the testing lab, physically testing items on the boards. Review schematics. ENVIRONMENT Reporting to Eric, there is an engineer, a JR. engineer, and this new temp, engineering type people on electrical side. There is a mechanical type tech, to help w/ acquiring boards. Mechanical engineers also come onsite to help with items. They have a product development team in IL, RI, CA, and NY; global small team in China START DATE: ASAP 8 5, but flexible. Not a lot of OT expectation. MUST HAVE Have to be self-driven; HM doesn't have time to re-train several times, so they really need to run with the ball. Strong Electrical background while they have training on specific equipment they want the person to be prepared. Want engineer eyes on test results on components to ensure that the components work. Analog & digital mix is preferred. Education BA is requested. 6 years XP TECHNOLOGY Analog and digital experience. Not seeking design engineer. Understanding of how components work 100%. SUPPLIER QUESTIONS: 1) Cost Reductions, what would the contractor responsibilities be for cost reduction? Approving alternate suppliers find alternate vendors to fill components (i.e. Silicone experts), Zebra part # with three alternates, and the contractor will review the designs and specs to ensure that other suppliers have the capabilities to fill their needs. Modifications to designs, where they don't affect the quality of the product but can modify the cost of the product. 2) Equipment & tools for testing? Oscilloscopes, multi-meters, hand-tools, vector analyzer, clever-scope. 3) How many days do you expect candidate to be onsite? Upfront, candidate to report in 5 days a week. If they can do their job effectively and efficiently, they may be able to work from home. Zebra takes temp every day, social distancing guidelines, and workstations are more than 6 ft apart. 4) Do they need technician type skills i.e. soldering to a board? It would be helpful if they have the skills, but they have a team of techs that can help with projects. But this person will take measurements and scope. 5) How many years' experience are you seeking? Preferably 3 years+ Develops tests for alternate components, develops cost reduction projects within the Sustaining Engineering Department. RESPONSIBILITIES Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data and conducts experiments. Completes documentation and procedures for installation and maintenance. May interact with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Analyze designs to designate necessary equipment to collect data. Evaluate and synthesize experimental tests and their results. Read and design plans to build electrical systems on a variety of products and machinery. Focus on manipulation and usage of electricity within a function of an engineered process. Exercises judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree required. Advanced degree is preferred. Minimum of 6 years of experience. Understands schematics and electronic documentation. Advanced understanding of electrical engineering concepts.
