Quality Assurance Specialist (1stShift) Spring Grove, IL Position Summary: Quality Technician will provide Compliance support to our Complex customer markets (Commercial Nuclear, Naval Nuclear, Aerospace, and Military). This detailed minded individual will work with Sales, Process Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Production departments to ensure that customer requirements are adequately understood and accurately communicated on Scot Forge certification and supporting documents. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Shop Order and Certification Review.Navigate, read and interpret specifications as they apply to the appropriate industry (such as military, nuclear, aerospace, automotive, wind power, mining, etc.) to ensure that applicable manufacturing, test, examination and inspection requirements, including supporting documentation requirements of the customers are properly defined. Review and prepare product documentation / certification packages to ensure accuracy of data in accordance with applicable standards and customer PO requirements.

Review of Certifications Performance– Support production by accurate and timely review of certifications. Meet quality and productivity targets that have been established by the department supervisor. Note: Support does not mean being pressured into expedite the review at the cost of quality of the review.

Customer Communication. Represent Scot Forge as we effectively communicate with customers and 3rdparty auditors regarding specification requirements, manufacturing and process capabilities, and questions / complaints related to quality systems, product, processes or documentation.

Roll out customer and industry requirements. Communicate and provide training to personnel regarding execution of procedures and interpretation of specifications/drawings as they apply to the technical manufacturing, test and inspection requirements invoked by customers.

External Auditor Host / Witness Host.Support 2nd and 3rd party external audits and customer witnesses and their review of Scot Forge Quality System processes, providing supporting information and activities to facilitate a successful audit / witness.

Participate and lead Structured Problem solving Events.Ability to lead and / or work with a cross functional team to identify root cause and develop and implement positive corrective action(s) to correct identified problem(s)

Certification Improvement.Drive for continual improvement companywide for customer certifications. Establish, implement and maintain procedures and best practices that will drive for error free certifications.

Safety.Actively participate in applicable safety programs (SafeStart, Target Zero, etc.) to ensure the continued success of the program. Maintain knowledge of process through training, perform scheduled observations, and provide quality feedback in order to promote safer work behaviors and conditions. Wear personal protective equipment and other special safety equipment as needed (i.e. earplugs, safety harness, gloves, etc.).

Teamwork.Work in cooperation with all fellow employee owners to sustain a strong team atmosphere.

Job related improvements.Utilize metrics to evaluate and eliminate waste for implemented processes, including efficiency, accuracy and quality improvements. Support and participate 6’s / Lean activities.

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities as Assigned:

Document Owner.Perform document validation for documents you are assigned to as document owner.

Lead Auditor– support SF auditing program by performing duties of lead auditor for both internal and supplier audits

LPA- Administer, participate and support the LPA (Layered Process Audit) system. Provide performance reports to owners. Help owners understand what is available (activity/status reporting).

Creating Certification(including those who provide backup support) Create certification per Shop Order Requirements. Strive for error free certifications. Accurately create certifications from information provided inside Shop order though the use of Reflection / JDE cert creation and transcribing relevant information from the SO. Creator will take the appropriate amount time needed to accurately and efficiently complete the certification. Accuracy and correctness of the certification takes precedence over through put. Follow required procedures. Correct certification errors that are identified by customer or other internal sources of authority. Close out Doc Preparation operation in the SO. Print out certifications and send to appropriate location based on SO instructions. Record retention – Save certifications in appropriate location.

Correct Certifications– Correct Certifications as required. Certs should be corrected by the function that entered the data but there may be a need for quality to correct to help serve the customer in a timely manner.

Quality Reports –Create and distribute standardized quality reports such as NCR reports, Calibration reports.

Qualifications:

Associates Degree in Industrial Technology

Experience/Years:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in reviewing certifications to industry and customer specifications

Familiar with the MS Office Suite of Applications

Auditing Experience – ISO9001, AS9100, NQA-1, ISO17025, ASME Y14.5, ASME Section III

Familiar with reading Blue Prints / Complex Drawings

Familiar with destructive and nondestructive testing

Basic understanding of Structured Problem Solving (8D)

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

A mix of working in the office (mostly behind a desk in front of a computer) and in the shop.

Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
