We’re looking for people who are determined to make life better for people around the world.Senior Director – Business Insights & Analytics, Medical Affairs, will be part of a growing and dynamic team of analytics professionals whose main goal is to help our business partners achieve their goals through data analytics enablement. The position will bring to bear understanding of various LillyUSA, Global & Medical Affairs (GMAO) specific data sources in order to lead execution of critical analyses and to communicate key outputs to decision makers. This analytics leader will ensure business decisions are backed by data driven insights for the Medical Affairs organization.The Senior Director is the single point of contact for Medical Affairs analytics focused on specific Business Units or Cross BU level analytics needs. The position will be responsible for partnering and collaborating across a wide group of multi-functional partners across internal business partners (GMAO, Business Unit Medical Affairs, Tech@Lilly, etc) in addition to external business partners ( ZS, IQVIA, etc).You will play a leadership role in developing execution plans for the prioritized analytics workstreams, in conjunction with LCCI teammates focused on Medical Affairs. They will closely partner and collaborate to ensure the broader team is aligned with key execution priorities and is able to meet (and exceed) our business partners’ expectations for delivery of high quality analytic results.This role reports to Associate Vice President, Business Insights & Analytics – Medical Affairs.Responsibilities:Advance Analytics Capability within Medical Affairs Function

Develop deep understanding of Medical Affairs strategy, goals, challenges and critical objectives (across GMAO & BU Medical Affairs) to ensure analytics deliverables are aligned to the broader strategy

Collaborate with Medical Affairs colleagues in developing the analytics strategy, aligned to GMAO & BI&A Roadmaps, with the objective of fostering data-driven decision-making in Medical Affairs

Provide end to end oversight and leadership on analytics delivery, including collaboration with cross functional partners to deliver on project goals that align to core Medical Affairs objectives

Translate analytics outcomes into business insights to guide business decisions

Articulate analytics value proposition to partners and identify novel analytics use case opportunities

Partner across BI&A to align on best way to communicate sophisticated models and technical processes in an easily digestible format and create organizational consensus for recommendations

Enable proper use across the overall analytics portfolio for Medical Affairs by bringing the appropriate technical personnel and leadership to the table

Lead a wide variety of team members and multi-functional teammates as a part of a highly matrixed organization

Clearly articulate analytics needs into technical requirements for data engineering, Tech@Lilly and other cross functional partners. Ensure consistency in analytics methodology, business rules and data definitions for all Medical Affairs analytics models

Build and maintain testing frameworks and embed a testing culture that rapidly tests, measures, and iterates

Efficiently and effectively lead team in US and in partnership with LCCI team Leader to create a highly effective analytics delivery model. Provide dotted-line supervision and project oversight for LCCI teammates, in partnership with LCCI Team Leader

Serve as a player and a coach in the delivery of Medical Analytics

Develop a pipeline of analytics talent and leadership and supply to an inclusive community of analytics expert practitioners

Identify, drive, and support initiatives to automate or otherwise make more efficient our existing analytical processes

Evolve and systematize analytical processes supporting Medical Affairs initiatives

Ensure alignment to Medical Affairs principles and guidelines for data and analytics that were developed in collaboration with GMAO, BI&A, Legal & Ethics & Compliance

Basic Qualifications :

Bachelor’s Degree with 3+ years of relevant experience leading an analytical function

Additional Skills/Preferences :

Quantitative background in engineering, statistics, mathematics, sciences, finance, computer science, business analytics, economics, technology or related field

Strong analytical skills, coupled with an eye for business, and an ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment

Demonstrated ability to communicate advanced analytics concepts to a variety of business partners

Excellent prioritization skills with attention to detail

Customer-focused attitude in the application of analytics capability to drive decision making

High level of motivation and a strong desire to find creative solutions to challenging situations

Solid understanding of statistical programming packages (e.g., R, SAS, Python, MATLAB) and types of predictive models a plus

Experience using common data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI)

Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Ability to work across teams and build TeamLilly culture

Demonstrated ability to enforce business rules and policies in a constructive but principled manner

At least 5 years of industry experience

MBA or other advanced degree a plus

Strong track record of leading cross-functional teams and delivering complex cross functional projects

Substantial analytics experience and understanding of complexities in retail and specialty markets, analytics techniques and US pharmaceutical business

Substantial experience in Pharmaceutical Data with an understanding of complexities of data landscapes

Broad awareness and working knowledge of advanced analytics areas such AI. ML, NLP and Predictive Analytics

Demonstrated understanding of Medical Affairs

Travel Percentage: 0-10%

Lilly currently anticipates that the base salary for this position could range from between $160,500 to $172,500 and will depend, in part, on the successful candidate’s qualifications for the role, including education and experience. Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance). In addition, Lilly offers a comprehensive benefit program to eligible employees, including eligibility to participate in a company-sponsored 401(k); pension; vacation benefits; eligibility for medical, dental, vision and prescription drug benefits; flexible benefits (e.g., healthcare and/or dependent day care flexible spending accounts); life insurance and death benefits; certain time off and leave of absence benefits; and well-being benefits (e.g., employee assistance program, fitness benefits, and employee clubs and activities).Of course, the compensation described above is subject to change and could be higher or lower than the range described above.
