Position Title:Assistant Teaching Professor in Culinary and Hospitality ManagementAppointment Type:FacultyJob Description:Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:The Department of Apparel, Events, and Hospitality Management in the College of Human Sciences at Iowa State University invites applicants for a 9-month term faculty position at the rank of Assistant Teaching Professor. The initial appointment length is one year, with renewal parameters to be determined by performance and department need.The ideal candidate will be expected to teach up to 12 credit hours (or equivalent effort) per semester, which includes classroom and lab instruction of culinary, restaurant, and hospitality classes offered in the Hospitality and Event Management Program. The candidate is expected to engage in continuous professional and curriculum development at the undergraduate level and in department and institutional service. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and exhibit the potential for leadership in supporting the mission of the Department, College, and University. Required Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Hospitality, Culinary, or related field

Industry experience in restaurant, foodservice, and/or café related field

Preferred Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Hospitality, Culinary, or related field

Teaching experience at the college level in Hospitality, Culinary, or related field

Management experience in foodservice industry

Experience in developing courses at the college level for a culinary lab setting, with a focus on hands-on instruction and practical skills development.

Proven record of success in culinary competitions at regional, national, or international levels.

Ability to lead and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in a restaurant/café, and other dining and event learning experiences
