We are looking for a talented Health, Safety and Environmental Leader to join our team specializing in Health and Safety for our Components Business Segment in Bowling Green, KY.In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

Actively promotes health, safety and environmental awareness and applies technical expertise in the design, implementation and management of health, safety and environmental engineering controls within the site(s)

Provides technical support cross-functionally to ensure compliance with Cummins internal requirements, applicable health, safety and environmental regulations and industry standards.

Actively demonstrates safety awareness and promotes a positive health, safety and environmental culture coaching others to do the same.

Ensures employees are consulted and given the opportunity to contribute to the development and implementation of programs, policies and procedures.

Works cross-functionally, providing technical expertise, to improve hazard prevention and risk control measures, non-conformities, corrective and preventive actions, driving continual improvement within the site(s).

Contributes to daily health, safety and environmental operations within the site(s) providing support to solve complex technical issues. Leads hazard identification, environmental aspect identification and risk assessment programs to identify risk improvement opportunities and gaps in health, safety and environmental compliance obligations.

Drives targets and objectives for the design, implementation and maintenance of complex hazard prevention and control systems to reduce or eliminate potential risk.

Develops and leads training, skills development and internal communications related to hazard prevention and control for employees within the site(s).

Leads development of technical content ensuring it is up to date, controlled and available while adhering to data privacy regulations.

Evaluates and interprets site health, safety and environmental data, legal compliance findings, and internal and external audit results to develop improvement plans using a risk-based, data driven approach.

Contributes to site(s) Health, Safety, Environmental Management Systems review annually in conformance with Cummins internal requirements. Participates in site audit preparation and formal audit processes.

Coaches and develops cross-functional teams and/or direct reports based on stakeholder feedback, and observations.

Actively seeks opportunities for self-development through professional health, safety and environmental organizations, as a champion of emerging trends.

Health, Safety and Environment Incident Investigation and Root Cause Analysis - Examines HSE incidents by completing quality, evidence based investigations with accurate root cause analysis, resulting in effective corrective actions, accurate reporting and avoiding repeated incidents.

Health, Safety and Environment Management Systems - Interprets and applies international standards through practical application within the operating environment to achieve and maintain an effective management system and external certification.

Implementation of Risk Controls - Selects and implements risk control methods by utilizing the hierarchy of controls to implement sustainable control measures in order to protect people by reducing overall risks to as low as reasonably practicable.

Influence the Health, Safety and Environmental Culture - Champions positive health and safety behaviors by influencing leaders and employees to create the right environment.

Management of Health, Safety and Environmental Regulatory Compliance - Identifies, interprets and manages legal and other requirements by implementing controls, monitoring and reporting on operational performance to ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental related regulations and standards.

Measurement and Evaluation of Health, Safety and Environment Performance - Collects and analyzes data by creating key performance indicators to evaluate performance trends, deliver improvement goals and objectives, inform strategy and protect employees and the environment.

Risk Assessment - Evaluates hazards within the work environment by applying hazard identification and risk assessment techniques to analyze and prioritize risk, enabling a selection of control measures that reduce risk as low as reasonably practicable.

Education, Licenses, Certifications

College, university, or equivalent degree required. Health, Safety and/or Environmental degree preferred. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred.

ExperienceIntermediate level of experience required, including experience in application of Industrial Safety standards and implementation of risk controls. Minimal management experience preferred.

Act as the primary safety communication point for the facility. Execute safety communications up and across as needed, and maintaining and making improvements within the Health & Safety Management System.

Escalates complex issues to and requests assistance from Corporate EHS when necessary.

Provides daily guidance and direction in safety programs at the employee / supervisor level and ensures a common and effective approach.

Participates in EHS team conference calls and shares facility safety performance and best practice information with the global EHS team.

Ensure that unannounced inspections by regulatory agencies are managed according to company standards. Initiates internal safety related communications as required by corporate standards.

Performs other safety-related tasks as requested. Analyze monthly and weekly metrics and comply with appropriate reporting. Initiates internal safety related communications as required by corporate standards.

Experience with Foundries is a plus.

Knowledge in conditional major air permitting compliance and regulations issued by KYDAQ preferred.

Good understanding of environmental control plans to prevent negative impacts to the environment.

Experience with ISO14001 & ISO45001
