Job Summary
The Church Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the church facilities.
This includes cleaning and sanitizing restrooms, vacuuming, maintaining floors, dusting and wiping
surfaces, paint touch-ups, basic facility repairs, and ensuring that all areas are presentable and ready for
use. The Church Custodian also assists with setting up and taking down equipment for events and activities
held in the church.
Responsibilities:
Restrooms: Clean and sanitize restrooms.
Floors: Vacuum carpets. Sweep & mop floors. Strip, wax, and buff floors.
Trash: Empty trash and recycle bins. Take trash to dumpster on premise.
Room Preparation: Ensure that all areas are presentable and ready for use based on
predetermined room layouts.
Events: Assist with setting up and taking down equipment for events and activities.
Repairs: Assist with basic upkeep such as interior paint touch up, a/c filter replacements, and other
simple facility tasks.
Report: Inform Facility’s Manager of any maintenance or repair needs for the Church.
Other: Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Bring
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior custodial, janitorial, and/or maintenance experience preferred.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Strong attention to detail.
Good communication skills.
Ability to lift heavy objects.
Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed.
