Essential Duties and Responsibilities for Estimator:

Analyze project documents: Review and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical specifications to understand project requirements.

Calculate costs: Identify and quantify costs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractors.

Prepare bids and proposals: Create comprehensive bids and proposals for clients, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and competitiveness.

Source and evaluate bids: Solicit and analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers to secure the most competitive pricing.

Conduct site visits: Visit project sites to gather information, assess conditions, and identify potential cost impacts.

Maintain databases: Keep a current database of unit costs, labor rates, and pricing trends.

Collaborate with teams: Work with project managers, engineers, and architects to align on project scope, cost, and timelines.

Manage addendum/drawing updates and design changes to ensure estimates reflect the correct scope.

Communicate and present estimates to management and clients, explaining the details of the cost analysis.

Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all final estimate packages before submission

Qualifications for Estimator

Proven experience in construction estimating

Minimum of 3-year experience as (GC) General Contractor estimator, successfully bidding projects up to at least 3 to 10 million dollars

Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, ProCor, PlanSwift), Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.

Strong mathematical, analytical, and critical-thinking skills for accurate cost forecasting and risk analysis.
