Prior experience in teaching or training, especially in health-related fields, is highly desirable. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to develop and adapt training materials to diverse audiences. Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite.OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Ability to travel to various training locations as needed. Flexible schedule to accommodate training sessions at different times and locations. Ability to pass a background check as required by BPCC and partnering organizations.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have use of sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with participants. Physical capability to demonstrate CPR, AED, and first aid techniques, including performing chest compressions and using AED equipment. Capable of lifting and carrying training equipment up to 20 pounds. Ability to stand for extended periods and perform hands on demonstrations. Occasional travel is required, with the possibility of overnight stays. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.Job ConceptsBossier Parish Community College (BPCC) is seeking a dedicated and certified Heart Saver Instructor to deliver the American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Saver curriculum, including CPR, AED, and First Aid training. The instructor will facilitate courses on BPCC campuses and at various locations, includingcorrectional facilities, community centers and workplaces. The ideal candidate will prioritize safety, demonstrate excellent communication skills, and ensure that participants acquire the necessary skills to respond effectively in emergency situations.Examples of WorkCurriculum Delivery: Deliver the AHA Heart Saver curriculum, including CPR, AED, and First Aid training, to a diverse group of participants. Ensure that all instruction is in compliance with AHA guidelines and BPCC standards. Provide practical, hands-on training to enhance participant understanding and retention. Training Facilitation:Conduct training sessions at BPCC campuses and various offsite locations. Adapt training materials to meet the specific needs of different participant groups, including community members, employees, and students. Emphasize the importance of safety and proper technique in all aspects of training. Assessment and Certification: Evaluate participants' performance and provide constructive feedback to help them achieve certification. Maintain accurate records of participant progress and certification status. Issue AHA certification cards to participants who successfully complete the training. Equipment Management: Ensure all training equipment, including manikins, AED trainers, and first aid supplies, are in good working condition. Report any equipment issues promptly and manage inventory to ensure adequate supplies are available for training sessions. Collaboration and Communication:Work closely with BPCC staff to coordinate training schedules and logistics. Communicate effectively with participants, providing support and addressing any questions or concerns. Participate in team meetings and professional development activities to stay updated on AHA guidelines and best practices. Community and Industry Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with local businesses, community organizations, and other stakeholders to promote Heart Saver training programs. Assist in marketing and promoting Heart Saver courses to expand participation and community awareness. Additional Responsibilities:Compile reports on program outcomes and participant feedback.
