LCYC-CSEF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit community organization teaching sailing and boating skills, marine environmental education, and island exploration to young and old on the Cranberry Isles in Maine. Our mission is to foster confidence, community, and love and respect for boats and coastal Maine
The Program Director’s primary responsibility is overseeing daily operations and managing the team of youth instructors and instructors-in-training. The Program Director leads daily planning meetings, communicates with parents and students, maintains and organizes the program’s equipment, and oversees safety. The Program Director also works with the Executive Director on curriculum development, staffing, and other organizational matters. Depending on skills and staffing, the Program Director may also be involved in class instruction. Must be great with kids and possess teaching, counseling, or management experience. While strong boat and sailing skills is a plus, it is not required.
Our program primarily sails Optis and 420s, and we also have an International One Design (1937 33' wooden Bermuda sloop) for advanced students that races with the Northeast Harbor Fleet.
The LCYC-CSEF runs classes full time from June 30 to August 16, and the job also includes a prep week June 24-28 and a closing week August 19-23, if available. The Program Director should expect to reside on one the Cranberry Isles or on Mount Desert Island during the summer program, and LCYC will aid in finding housing if needed.
