AECOM is seeking a creative, motivated, and highly talented Geospatial Data Scientist III with a focus on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for employment in our Baltimore, Maryland office. The ideal candidate will have experience in data science and GIS, demonstrating strong technical expertise and problem-solving skills.The ideal candidate will have experience in a role that involves supporting engineering, modeling, and inspection teams by automating ETL processes using Python, R, and SQL programming languages. This position is part of AECOM’s Water practice and supports projects involving site investigation, design, construction, and site restoration. The role is suited to individuals pursuing careers in data science, water management, and design.The selected individual will work closely with the design team to prepare plans, calculations, and documents including specifications, sketches, diagrams, and schematic drawings. We are seeking individuals that can assist the Project Management team with management administration on a small to moderate size and scope project, or a portion of a larger, more complex project, following set guidelines for tasks.
The job responsibilities of this position will include but are not limited to:Drive the adoption of new tools and processes with minimal oversight.Design and maintain robust data pipeline architecture; assemble large, complex data sets to meet business requirements.Identify, design, and implement process improvements, such as automating manual workflows, optimizing data delivery, and redesigning infrastructure for greater scalability.Maintain infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from diverse sources using R, Python, SQL and Azure ‘Big Data’ technologies for GIS consumption.Build analytics tools to provide actionable insights, improve operational efficiency, and track key business performance metrics.Develop custom tools and widgets for ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Enterprise.Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve data-related technical issues and support evolving data infrastructure needs.
