Part-time Caregiver (M-F mornings)

75 year old woman who is quadriplegic. She has no functional movement below her shoulder blades and requires full assistance. Her daughter is the primary caregiver and completes all the complex care tasks. This position provides assistance and relief for less complex care tasks. Training will be provided.

The care recipient is very easy-going and pleasant. Her previous caregivers loved her.

Compensation: $18/hr

Shift: 8am - noon, Monday - Friday

Location: Edgewood, MD

Duties:

Keep her comfortable. Help her navigate the TV. Fill her water bottle. Personal assistance she requests - wipe her face, scratch her itches, comb her hair, clean her ears/nose out, adjust her pillow, cover her up with an extra blanket.

Bed bath on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Assist with shower as needed. This includes preparing equipment and linens, helping to transfer her, bathing her, cleaning equipment and room after shower, and starting laundry.

Daily tasks - take blood pressure, perform oral care, wash her face, prepare and feed her breakfast, give designated medication, administer breathing treatment, empty urine bag, help primary caregiver with morning personal care (bowel care, changing underpads, perineal area cleaning), empty trash cans in her room.

Weekly Tasks - launder her clothes and linens, clean her room, detail clean her water bottle, other tasks for her as requested.

Light housekeeping - load/unload dishwasher, wipe kitchen counters, clean floors, clean bathrooms (2), take out trash.

Other duties as requested.

Required Qualifications:

Must be reliable. She depends on her caregivers for everything. Advanced notice for absences is imperative.

Willingness to learn. Training will be provided.

Flexible, yet organized, with attention to detail.

Ability to exercise sound judgment.

Patient, empathetic, and kind.

Physically able to push, pull, and lift to help her transfer.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience assisting someone with paralysis.

CPR/First Aid Certification

Driver's License and reliable transportation.

Female caregiver preferred.
