The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team. DESCRIPTIONThe Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) is recruiting for Civilian Uniformed Personnel. The incumbent will perform assigned duties for any work that will relieve a police officer from street duty. CUPS Personnel may be in a mobile position or a static security position. Duties will include but are not limited to: fare inspection and enforcement services to ensure patron compliance with the MTA's self-service fare policy on the MTA Light Rail system; inspect and verify the validity of tickets and/or passes on a daily basis; prepare detailed reports and other documents as assigned; provide information to patrons regarding Light Rail services and coordinate activities with related MTA Police or other MTA Operations personnel; may assist in special assignments such as the Transit Ambassador Program and/or other operations or police activities; monitor and authorize entrance and departure of employees, visitors, and other persons to guard against theft and maintain security of premises; maintain visibility among patrons, and employees to preserve order and protect property; answer telephone calls and provide information during non-business hours or when switchboard is closed; and other duties as assigned.This position is located in Baltimore City, Maryland.QualificationsPOSITION REQUIREMENTSApplicant must be 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalency certificate.Employees in this position must be able to work 40 hours per week and must be able to work variable shifts, evenings, holidays, and weekend's based on the needs of the Maryland Transit Administration. The work may be performed outdoors in all weather conditions and includes standing and walking under conditions in high traffic volume, noise and congestion and possible exposure to dangerous situations.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Employees in this classification are subject to pre-employment drug testing and substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49-Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules, and Transportation Code of Maryland Regulations 11.02.11, Testing for Illegal Use of Drugs.
