Job Title: Surgical Triage RNJob DescriptionPlan, implement, coordinate, evaluate, and promote the continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices. Assess health status by interviewing patients regarding current status and medical history. Collect and record nursing assessments and interventions. Review and report the results of health status assessments, physical examinations, pertinent laboratory data, radiographic data, and psychosocial assessments of assigned patients to the provider. Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and other instructional material. Provide psychosocial support to patients and families. Maintain patient confidentiality. Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician. Administer all medications/blood products using the correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time, and technique. Assure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable. Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems, and symptom management. Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports, and maintain central lines catheter devices. Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided. Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture. Maintain work environment, restock the supply area as needed, and follow OSHA guidelines when handling cytotoxic agents, biohazardous waste, and any other material potentially infected with a blood-borne pathogen. Maintain all disinfection protocols and equipment according to quality control standards. Facilitate clinical operations and patient care by managing patient medication refill requests from the pharmacy telephone line and recording the information in the patient chart. Assist physicians with exams and procedures. Maintain efficient and appropriate patient flow in and out of exam rooms. Facilitate and schedule consultations, pre-testing, diagnostic tests or procedures, referrals, and future appointments for patients. Triage patient phone calls as needed and document relevant information in the patient's chart. Facilitate communication between patient/family and interdisciplinary team and coordinate services related to patient care as necessary. Assist patients in locating available community resources. Assist and collaborate with clinical research. Act as a resource to LPN/LVNs and medical assistants. Provide nursing coverage for the satellite offices as needed. Serve as mentor/preceptor and provide day-to-day guidance to less experienced staff. Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge of oncology nursing by participating in ongoing educational opportunities.Hard Skills
3-5 years nursing experience including at least one year in oncology preferred
RN in the state of the person
ACLS
