Our specific mission is to support the Sanofi business units and R&D by delivering differentiated technology solutions that support administration of drugs and vaccines to help patients, health care workers, care givers, and payers address unmet needs and provide improved health outcomes. Our products and solutions sit on top of our market leading technology platforms which we continue to evolve.We continue to recruit top talent in the industry to help transform care in General Medicines, Specialty Care, and Vaccines, in the areas of drug delivery devices and stand-alone medical devices. Our teams have developed and released to market auto-injectors, pens, safety syringes, as well as connected medical device technologies. We are gearing up for more expansive health applications and patient experiences to support the R&D portfolio, including the development of intra-venous devices for home use, on-body drug delivery devices, and targeted delivery systems for cell- and gene therapy, to name a few.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:The Global Head of Device Strategy, Innovation & Business Transformation, is a critical member of our executive team responsible for driving the device technology vision, aligning our R&D pipeline needs, external market macro trends, and patient requirements to identify the next generation of drug delivery solutions in order to position us for future success. In addition, this role is responsible for establishing strategic external collaborations to complement and enhance our internal capabilities. Furthermore, the Head of Strategy and Transformation will play a pivotal role in shaping the future strategy of the Medical Device organization and operationalizing that strategy to transform our business and accelerate product development. As such, the Head of Strategy will engage with key member of the executive team, including the Executive Committee, to define and secure the long-term strategy and its execution.Innovation and Strategy Development:

Monitor and analyze external market trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies (exploration and scouting) to ensure access to cutting edge drug delivery technologies which are strategic to deliver Sanofi R&D pipeline.

Lead the creation of an innovation and technology roadmap for the development of next-generation drug delivery systems, as well as secure the funding for its realization.

Foster a culture of open innovation by promoting cross-functional collaboration. Define and execute the IP strategy in collaboration with the Legal Department in order to gain broad freedom to operate and generate value through the monetization of our IP portfolio.

Lead execution of device due diligence activities and present recommendations at the highest level Working Group (DWG) in collaboration with R&D and Business-Development.

Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy that aligns with the long-term vision of the Medical Device organization, as well as establish a sustainable funding model to support its realization.

External Collaboration and Partnerships:

Identify potential external partners, including startups, academic institutions, and technology companies, to identify cutting-edge technologies and enhance and expand our internal expertise and capabilities.

Establish strategic partnerships which support our global footprint and enable us to be cost competitive in the global market place.

Establish strategy for industry conferences and working group participation as it pertains to training, publications, influencing standards, etc.

Patient Centricity and Human Factors

Ensure Human Factors engineering and patient centered design principles are embedded in the development of drug delivery devices/systems such that the device is intuitive, easy to use, and safe for patients. This includes factors such as ergonomics, user interface design, and readability of instructions to minimize the risk of user error. Additionally, incorporating features that enhance comfort, minimize anxiety, and promote adherence to treatment regimens, ultimately aiming to improve patient outcomes and satisfaction with the device is key.

Early Stage Portfolio:

Collaborate closely with the R&D senior leadership teams to align drug delivery innovations and technology development efforts with the evolving needs of the portfolio, including providing thought leadership in driving new opportunities in the clinical operations space.

Manage and secure the budget to execute early-stage programs required to de-risk development, advance select drug delivery technology development, and operationalize strategy. Key areas include IV at home, in-vitro diagnostic devices, and targeted non-systemic delivery systems for gene therapy.

Execute strategic capabilities planning through balance of internal talent development with external capability and spend to meet future needs and deliver on ambition.

Stakeholder Engagement

Lead and/or participate in Sanofi governance bodies (i.e., Development Working Grp, Medical Device Working Grp, Device Board, etc.) as required.

Collaborate with Mfg & Supply Strategy Head as well as R&D and Commercial organizations to ensure Device Strategy is fully integrated with broader company strategy and ambition.

Experience & Qualifications :

Minimum of 15-20 years of drug-delivery industry experience in the medical device or pharmaceutical industry with a demonstrated track record of success. Executive-level experience in strategy and within the pharmaceutical or medical device industry highly desired.

Experience developing and implementing innovation and intellectual property strategies that have driven business impact and/or growth.

Domain expertise with broad working knowledge of therapeutic modalities and associated technologies to facilitate delivery.

Experience in establishing and managing strategic external collaborations and partnerships.

Ability to manage internal development resources and external development partners in a global environment to deliver objectives with operational and fiscal responsibilities for on time and on budget delivery.

Skills :

Ability to think strategically, creatively and purposefully while managing multiple programs.

Strong business acumen and ability to evaluate changing business conditions and effectively shift strategy and priorities based on dynamics.

Strong leadership and communication skills with ability to work effectively in a complex, matrixed global organization, leveraging solid influencing and collaboration skills.

Education : BS in engineering or scientific discipline, advanced degree desired.

Languages : Fluent in English, French or German basic knowledge is a plus
