Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Accounting Clerk in Somerville, Massachusetts. Operating in a business casual environment, this role focuses on various aspects of accounting and administrative duties. The successful candidate will be expected to manage a range of responsibilities, from data entry to handling bank deposits, to dealing with accounts receivables and payables.Responsibilities: Entering information for deposits and managing bank deposits Answering phones and recording messages with details such as date, time, and name Assisting with tenant-related concerns Sorting and distributing mail, including collection from a nearby PO Box Conducting data entry tasks, particularly for Accounts Receivables Assisting with accounts payable tasks, including data entry and copying Filing large quantities of documents Utilizing software tools such as QuickBooks and Excel for daily tasksPlease note that this role requires onsite work and offers parking facilities. The working hours will be from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch break. This role does not offer the possibility of remote work. Requirements Proficiency in QuickBooks software is required Ability to handle bank deposits effectively and accurately Previous experience in an accounting role is preferred Excellent numerical and analytical skills are essential Strong attention to detail is necessary Effective communication and interpersonal skills are needed Familiarity with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel A degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is preferred Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial information Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically Good organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
