As part of aninitiative in quantum science and technology (https://record.umich.edu/articles/u-m-launches-institute-to-accelerate-quantum-research-education/) at theUniversity the Michigan Quantum Research Institute (https://research.umich.edu/quantum/) is being formed and 8 new faculty will be hired. These faculty can be rostered in the following departments (jointly if appropriate): LSA/Physics, COE/Electrical and Computer Engineering, LSA/Math, COE/Computer Science and Engineering, LSA/Chemistry, COE/Materials Science and Engineering, depending on the best fit for the applicant. We are particularly interested in people leading in transformative research and disruptive technologies, engaging and leveraging the University's existing strengths in quantum-light information science and technology, including advanced spectroscopy, quantum phenomena in semiconductors, Rydberg atoms, two-dimensional quantum materials, quantum integration, quantum dynamics and computation, quantum control, quantum field theories, quantum communications, networks, electrodynamics, microwave technologies, and algorithms, or systems software for quantum-information processing.
