The Chemist will work as part of a team to synthesize and purify compounds to maintain and expand the company’s catalog inventory. Being familiar with synthetic organic chemistry, this individual will execute on synthetic organic chemistry techniques, in both milligram and multi-gram scale synthesis, to meet organizational objectives and serve as a key member of our Dexter operations team. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily:Follow synthetic procedures for the production of catalog compoundsUse a variety of analytical methods to monitor reaction processesPerform prescribed quality assessment of products using a variety of analytical methodsPurify both air and moisture sensitive compoundsTroubleshoot existing processes when observations deviate from the known procedureWith guidance, improve existing processes to reduce cost and increase reliability, purity, and safetyMaintain complete, legible and timely laboratory recordsMaintain familiarity with, and operate by current and chemical hygiene plansAdditional functions to assist in maintaining an efficient, safe and productive work environmentConscientiously learn and abide by the requirements of the site’s quality management systemAdhere to company Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) policyPerform other duties as required to meet business needs
