SUMMARYProvides administrative and operational leadership of Operations Control Room, Operations Support and Operator Training groups with the responsibility to ensure the safe and reliable operation of all ITC transmission systems. These responsibilities can include real time system monitoring and control, coordinated operation with neighboring and regional entities, NERC and FERC compliance, determining corrective actions in emergency situations, outage coordination with internal and external entities and system operator training and certification.RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide work direction to individuals and leaders responsible for 24 by 7 operations of ITC transmission system, system operator training, outage scheduling, switching, tagging and other activities related to real-time system operations.

Ensures that safety practices related to switching, tagging and other field work are consistently followed.

Solves operational problems by interpreting and evaluating information, uncovering related issues, developing methods or procedures for resolution, making recommendations and implementing solutions.

Directs the development and implementation of normal and emergency operating procedures to maintain interconnected system security and integrity.

Establishes goals and objectives, performance measures and implement policies for the group.

Provide leadership and direction during emergency situations and demonstrate ability to make sound decisions quickly.

Ensure that all departments within the real-time operations group clearly understand the group’s vision and objectives and work as one team.

Develops and maintain a highly skilled, motivated staff of Transmission System Coordinators and other support personnel to meet the real time operating needs of the Company by participating in the interviewing and hiring of new employees, aiding in employee development and coaching, counseling, training and evaluating and recognizing performance.

Oversees resource planning for system operations control room and support areas to ensure that adequate number of trained and certified personnel are available 24 by 7 to monitor and operate the transmission system.

Work closely with Engineering, Planning and external contractors to ensure that field work is executed safely, and delays are minimized by efficient outage planning and real-time support for work execution.

Oversees various interconnection agreements with external companies and customers.

Ensures compliance with various NERC standards applicable to Real-time system operations group.

Represent ITC at RTOs, NERC, FERC and regions in various subcommittees and workgroup as related to Real-time operations.

Performs assignments on internal and external projects regarding technical and non-technical matters as directed by senior management; participates on industry forums representing the corporate/organization position.

Participates in organization policy development, implement corporate policies, human resource management, negotiating and resolving issues, timekeeping/pay practices and communicate the corporate/organization vision.

Oversees the development and execution of operator training program.

Represents the work unit, in matters related to Real Time Operations with management, public relations personnel, government and regulatory entities, Partners in Business and other groups impacting ITC's operational success.

Authors reports regarding major outages and their related corrective actions for management and public relations personnel, to reflect the state of the transmission system.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or relevant, equivalent experience and/or education.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience in electric utility industry in transmission system operations, planning, engineering or related areas.

Minimum of five years of supervisory experience in related areas.

North American Reliability Council (NERC) Certified System Operator Reliability Coordinator certificate or ability to obtain the certification within one year.

Possesses sound analytical ability and be able to make independent decisions based on analysis in a limited period.

Adequate knowledge of core safety principles applicable to field work.

Possesses solid computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
