Receive prescriptions from patients and gather appropriate information. Assist in the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies as assigned, including counting, pouring and labeling prescriptions. Process manual prescriptions including Medicare B, VA Medical, and Worker’s Compensation, in an efficient and accurate manner. Complete special orders to meet customers’ needs.
Verify insurance and resolve issues in a manner that will serve the customer’s needs. Address third party prescription questions, which may include prior authorizations, vacation supplies, dose changes, price check and drug utilization review.
Process new and refill prescriptions in the computer system quickly and accurately; including entering refill authorization requests and entering and calculating complex prescriptions such as compounds and injectables.
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the computer system. Utilize the reporting system as necessary.
Respond to internal and external customer questions and concerns in a professional and customer-focused manner. Handle cash register transactions quickly and accurately.

QualificationsRequiredEducation
High school diploma/GED.
Experience
Any retail and/or pharmacy experience.
License/Certification/Registration
Active technician pharmacy registration with the MN Board of Pharmacy.
Active national pharmacy technician certification (CPhT).
For those employees who perform immunizations
Complete APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration for the Pharmacy Technician program.
Complete BLS training and certification.
PreferredEducation
Graduate of an approved pharmacy technician program
Experience
One to three years of retail and/or pharmacy experience.
Additional Requirements
Excellent customer service skills, proficient in the English language, good attention to detail, ability to problem solve effectively, ability to follow policies and procedures, basic math skills, basic typing skills and excellent communication skills.
