Masonry Laborer
Currently we have an opening for multiple brick tenders (laborers). Interested individuals will preferably have some experience in masonry restoration and must be comfortable with heights as our work consists of restoring chimneys.
This is a labor intensive job, but with time all of our tenders are trained into becoming journeyman brick layers.
Brick tenders duties involve but are not limited to the following:
1. Assisting in erecting scaffolding
2. Mixing mortar
3. Making saw cuts on brick and stone with masonry chop saw
4. Carrying brick and or stone
5. Assisting in masonry chimney demolition
6. Project cleanup
7. Other duties related to assisting our brick layers in masonry restoration
Established in 1970, 95% of the work we conduct on a daily basis involves residential chimney restoration within the Twin Cities and surrounding suburbs. The other 5% of our work is comprised of brick and mortar repairs on all manner of things such as buttresses, planter boxes, piers, exterior masonry walls etc.
Our crews work together in teams of 3-4 with 2 bricklayers and 1-2 brick tenders comprising each crew.
A clean driving record is helpful but will not fully impact our final decision to hire. It may however influence potential salary terms if hire cannot clear insurance requirements to drive a company work truck if needed.
We operate seasonally with our work season typically commencing in March (as soon as the weather permits), and wrapping up late November/beginning of December. All of our employees collect unemployment during our winter offseason.
If you do not have experience in masonry but desire to learn a skilled trade from the ground up, don't be afraid to reach out to us. As long as you are willing to apply yourself, are not afraid to perform physical work, and most importantly are reliable, we are open to training the right individual.
Pay is negotiable and will be based on experience.
Reliable transportation is a must
