General Purpose of Job:  To inspire and prepare all students with the confidence, courage and competence to achieve their dreams; contribute to community; and engage in a lifetime of learning.  Perform tasks and duties associated with installing, repairing and maintaining plumbing systems and fixtures throughout the district. Primary Function:  Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures, including piping systems used to transport water, waste, gases or hot/cold liquids.  Works in cooperation with the other trades and laborers to ensure all specifications, legislation, and policies are met, including ensuring that water supply networks and waste and drainage systems are installed, repaired and maintained to meet all standards of building codes and safety.    Tasks involved in fulfilling above duty and responsibility:    Reviewing  building plans and specifications to determine the layout for plumbing and related materials; Identifying required tools and special equipment; Selecting the type and size of pipe required; Locating and marking positions for connections and fixtures; Installing supports and hangers for pipes, fixtures and equipment; Assembling and installing valves and fittings; Installing, repairing and maintaining, including but not limited to:water treatment equipment, piping and controls; sinks, tubs and toilets; water heaters and conditioners; plumbing fixtures, appliances and trim; steam/hot water boilers: Making recommendations to the Coordinator of Custodial/Maintenance as to the repair and/or replacement of plumbing and related materials; Testing pipe systems and fixtures for leaks; Performing arc and gas welding in the shop or in the field; Preparing seasonal plumbing systems by winterizing as required. Skilled in:  Troubleshooting, including the ability to determine causes of operating errors or problems and recommending solutions.  Solving complex problems, including the ability to identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and recommend solutions.  Installing equipment, machines, plumbing and related fixtures/wiring/programs to meet specifications.  Determining the kind of tools, equipment and labor needed to complete a job. Qualifications: Specialized vocational training in plumbing. Two (2) or more years of verifiable work experience as a Master Plumber.  Three to Five (3-5) years experience in the plumbing field in commerial or industrial plumbing maintenance and/or repair.  Ability to obtain a specialist boiler license within one (1) year from date of hire.  Required Licenses: Master Plumber License, Drivers License Preferred Licenses: Specialist Boiler, Certified Pool Operator, Back Flow Preventor Licenses, Universal Refrigeration License,   This position requires working on unprotected heights (e.g., roofs); use of/close to machinery; working in the outdoors with temperature changes; driving motorized equipment; exposure to toxic gas, solvents, sewer gases, asbestos; and working in extreme temperatures and around slick surfaces.
