Job DescriptionGeneral Purpose:The Separator Operator is to operate the separator process in an efficient manner in order to maximize production while maintaining product quality and employee safety.Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Operate the separator system according to defined processing parameters to achieve optimum processing efficiencies and to ensure the highest quality product while minimizing downtime; this includes the Skim HTST, Separator, Cream HTST, and RO
Monitor and document processes as required and perform quality control checks, making changes to the processes as necessary to maintain quality
Ensure all process documentation is completed correctly at designated intervals and entered into SAP as required
Ensure all recording charts are properly documented according to company and regulatory regulations
Perform CIP as needed on all related equipment and perform manual cleaning as necessary
Assist with raw milk load-outs
Perform CIP of product tanks, processing lines, and load-out lines; perform manual cleaning as necessary
Perform general housekeeping duties and master sanitation schedule tasks as necessary
Perform limited maintenance as required
Minimize water usage and the generation of wastewater within the scope of the position
Assist in the training and development of new operators
Maintain safe, clean, and organized work area throughout the facility and common areas
Anticipate problems, implement solutions, and look for continuous improvement/process improvement opportunities
Safeguard and protect all company assets and proprietary information
Assume responsibility for the attainment of plant goals and objectives. Make decisions in a timely manner
Maintain cooperative working relationships and communications with employees from all other departments and peers
Dedicate effort to safety as we expect every employee to leave work in the same condition as they arrive
Follow all Dairy Farmers of America procedures and practices: Safety, Quality, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), and Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP)
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements
Exhibit the values and ethics of Dairy Farmers of America through honesty, discretion, and sound judgment
Adhere to all DFA Quality, Safety and GMP policies and procedures and report any nonconformity
Attend required training, including but not limited to Safety, GMP, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP), and Safe Quality Foods (SQF)

RequirementsMinimum Requirements:Education and Experience
High School Diploma or GED required
1 year of manufacturing experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Able to perform basic quality testing as necessary, including but not limited to total solids%, butterfat%
Able to understand the cream HTST system to effectively troubleshoot issues as they arise
Able to use and understand calculations, production rates and fluid inventories
Able to prepare and comprehend evaporator logs and master sanitation schedules
Able to perform routine machine adjustments
Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing
Able to take appropriate steps to find solutions to problems
Knowledge of and proficient skills with computer usage
Must be able to read, write and speak English
