Supplemental InformationThis vacancy is located in the MAILROOM of Eastern Louisiana Mental Health System in Jackson, LA (East Feliciana Parish). ELMHS is the largest 24-hour, multi-site, state psychiatric complex, comprised of residential, outpatient and inpatient services. The position will be filled as a part-time, WAE and is not to exceed 1100 hours in a 12-month period AN IDEAL CANDIDATE SHOULD POSSESS THE FOLLOWING COMPETENCIES:

For further information about this vacancy, please contact:ELMHS HUMAN RESOURCESELMHS-HR@LA.GOV Minimum QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:One year of experience in which clerical work was a major dutySUBSTITUTIONS:Training in a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required experience on the basis of six months of training for six months of experience.Completion of a business or clerical-related curriculum in a business school or technical institute will substitute for the required one year of experience.College training will substitute for the required experience on the basis of 15 semester hours for six months of experience.NOTE: Business or technical school training with less than completion will only be credited in six month increments. Similarly, college training will only be credited in 15 semester hour increments.NOTE: Any college hours or degree must be from an accredited college or university.Job ConceptsFunction of Work:To perform a variety of clerical duties that requires some independent judgment to accomplish in support of the staff members and/or operations of an organizational unit or program.Employees follow detailed procedural guidelines in completing well-defined duties.Level of Work:Experienced.Supervision Received:General from higher-level clerical and/or supervisory personnel.Supervision Exercised:None.Location of Work:May be used by all state agencies.Job Distinctions:Differs from Administrative Coordinator 1 by the presence of responsibility for clerical duties that require some independent judgment to perform.Differs from Administrative Coordinator 3 by the absence of advanced level duties that not only require some independent judgment, but also involve a greater scope and complexity.Examples of WorkNOTE: Positions allocated at this level tend to focus on several examples of work as listed below:Processes routine paperwork and/or enters data into a department log or database in the servicing of a client.Prepares, indexes, and scans documents into imaging system; may ensure quality of scanned images.Prepares requisitions for the purchase of supplies; may involve entering information into an automated system.Receives, stores, and distributes supplies; maintains inventory of such.Collects and prepares for processing time and attendance sheets for department or office.Maintains department's records system, including filing and retrieving documents, researching files, etc.Serves as clerical assistant to a manager, which may include keeping appointment schedule, preparing travel, issuing directives to others on their behalf, and relieving the manager of administrative matters.Serves as receptionist for the assigned work unit.May deliver and pick-up various materials.Performs related duties as assigned.Louisiana State Government represents a wide variety of career options and offers an outstanding opportunity tomake a differencethrough public service.
