Position: Data ArchitectLocation: Creve Coeur MO 63167 (Start remotely)Duration: 6 monthsDescription SPI's Data Operations team, aids Bayer's Crop Science division to fuel innovations and efficiencies thru data drive decisions. In collaborating with our business partners, we identify opportunities, prioritize and enable high value digital pipelines and solutions using best practices in data engineering and management.Educational requirement•Minimum of a Bachelors in Computer Science or related discipline•8+ years of experience in software development including data architecture, design, development, migration and supportRequired Skills •Experienced in analysis, design, coding, development, testing and maintenance of large data warehouse systems with various heterogeneous source Systems like SAP, SQL Server, Flat files and Legacy systems.•Experience working in cloud environments like AWS and Google Big Query to enable access and use of cloud-based datasets•Extensive practice designing and developing ETL data pipelines in relations and non-relational environments using DevOps and Agile software development techniques including experiences in•Logical and physical data modeling, schema design, de-normalization techniques for large platforms like Teradata, Informatica, SQL Server using query tools like SQL developer and/or SQL assistance•UNIX shell scripting to automate and schedule jobs•Python programming and use of various libraries for task automation, calling APIs, preparing and transforming data for analysis and digital transformations, etc.•Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Good at documenting including functional specs, procedures and status updates•Ability to work independently with minimum supervision on small and large initiativesPreferred experiences or skills •Previous legacy Monsanto and/or Bayer experience•Experience using and developing in visualizing platforms like Spotfire and TableauAdditional Details:•Strong data background where the individual can quickly understand the data at hand, wrangle it to help analyze, visualize for insights. For this, experience in logical and physical data modeling, various schema design, de-normalization techniques will help.•Solid experience in querying data and programming knowledge and experience in large data warehouses/platforms like Teradata, Google Big query, etc. For this, the individual needs to have strong ETL design and development experience.•Individual needs to be an agile developer (providing small capabilities continuously to the business) and being able to decode and identify issues when data problems are reported•Experience in setting up automation / job schedules and workflows using UNIX shell scripting and Informatica designer and workflow tools.•Visualization experience in tools like spotfire is a plus Benefits:
