Job Description Summary:Provides lab services to meet the test needs of patients performed in accordance with standards and practices. Works closely with appropriate stakeholders and in a safe and effective manner that is consistent with department policies and procedures.Qualifications:
Post high school education or vocational training in healthcare preferred. Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
High School Diploma required
Minimum of one (1) year’s experience in laboratory clinical or pathology section preferred.
Basic knowledge of medical terminology required.
Human Anatomy and Physiology course completion or related field preferred.
Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented, a self-starter, possess critical thinking skills and be able to set priorities and function as part of a team as well as independently.
Commitment to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively with various audiences.
Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations with tact, professionalism, and diplomacy.
Possess and maintain computer skills to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn other software as needed.
Job Specific Duties:
Assists in various duties including, but not limited to; loading and unloading centrifuges, storing of specimens, ordering and inventory control, specimen preparation, etc.
Properly prepares specimens in an effort to expedite diagnosis. Adheres to all specimen processing procedures.
Acts as liaison between appropriate stakeholders during daily operational work flow per department protocol.
Checks equipment temperatures per department procedures.
Prints pending lists and locates specimens as needed.
Adheres by documentation procedures. Follows format, policies and procedures for the admission, registration, and test ordering in the system. Accurately orders and cancels tests in the defined LIS system.
Reviews and ensures accurate patient identification and information per department procedures.
Performs routine preventative maintenance on instruments. Performs quality control procedures and cleans department area and equipment per department protocol.
Participates in the technical training of specimen preparations per department protocol.

Maintains regular and consistent attendance as scheduled by department leadership.Shift:Variable - 12 Hours (United States of America)Schedule Details:Please know schedules and shifts are subject to change based on patient care and department/organizational needs.Schedule: Will be required to work rotating weekend shifts.Logan Health operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
