MA RT license and ARRT Registry
Minimum 3 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
Minimum 1 year experience in a Lead or Supervisor role.

Is the liaison between the Manager and the staff. Schedules all work assignments according to needs. Assist and/or conduct disciplinary actions as needed with employees. Assist with the evaluation and development for purchases of capital equipment and related items.The Supervisor shall interact with staff, leadership, patients, families, providers and members of the community professionally and in accordance with the Operating Principles of Baystate Health.Under the supervision of the Radiologist and according to established policies and procedures, operates equipment as required, to obtain diagnostic images according to Radiologist specifications; will assist the Radiologist in a wide range of sterile procedures.Responsible for the care and treatment of all age ranges of patients, which may use Imaging Services, to include pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric.The Supervisor will contribute to preparedness for Joint Commission and DPH surveys, and ACR accreditation. In collaboration with the Manager and Radiologists the Supervisor develops and maintains policies and procedures for the clinical areas of the department.Job Responsibilities:1) Directs and supervises Imaging Technologists and ancillary staff involved in the care and performance of Imaging examinations, including exam performance and using RadNet and CIS to clarify orders, ensuring correct exams are performed following approved exam protocols.2) Responsible for development and maintenance of staffing schedules for: Radiology, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, CT Scan, and Mammography. This includes approval of time-off requests and coverage for unplanned events. Responsible for 24 hour call shared with Manager to respond to issues and concerns regarding patient care and department services. Reviews daily schedule & plans work flow to ensure efficient and timely completion while maintaining good continuity of patient care. Adjusts staffing to flex with daily volumes and productivity.3) Responsible for collaboration with the Clinical Engineering staff for maintenance and repair of all Imaging equipment. Responsible for communicating significant problems to Manager and Medical Staff as needed.4) Performs all functions related to Kronos timekeeping/payroll including: scheduling, variances, transfers and approval.5) Integrity: works with respectful, credible, and professional demeanor. Demonstrates trust-worthy behaviors, i.e. follow through on commitments, maintains confidentiality and appropriate boundaries, displays ethical behavior and decision making.6) Review & adjustment of all OPPS, Coding weekly reports, assist in revenue and expense monthly.7) Oversees orientation and training of new staff to include annual competencies. Contributes to development and implementation of in-service education programs for all staff.8) Superuser for Radiology Information System and PAC's system.9) Makes effective recommendations on employee hiring, transfer, promotion, termination, and disciplinary actions. Contributes to the Performance Evaluation process.10) Assumes responsibility for Department in absence of manager as needed in accordance with departmental procedures.11) Maintains safe work environment, observes all health and safety requirements and prepares and presponds to accidents and unusual occurrences, reporting to the Imaging Services Manager.12) Demonstrates knowledge of development stages for all age groups and applies developmental theories and concepts when communicating, planning and implementing care for patients.13) Reviews authorization and other companion paperwork to verify type of examination to be performed, to be alert for contra-indicators and suspected pathologies. Ensures proper imaging/treatment procedures by checking with nursing personnel, physicians and/or radiologists whenever questionable exams are ordered.14) Explains nature of procedure completely and in laymen's terms, in order to allay apprehension and elicit cooperation. Validates that patient understands procedure by questioning or other means.15) Correctly identifies each image, including date verification, name RT and LT markers, and other pertinent exam information.16) Adheres to all Confidentiality and HIPAA policies.17) Selects appropriate technical parameters according to knowledge of standard settings to produce x-ray exams of diagnostic quality. Maintains radiation safety to patient, staff, and self according to departmental procedures. Calculates and administers correct dosage of contrast materials for appropriate exams in order to produce desired imaging results.Skills/Competencies:Skills and knowledge associated with Diagnostic Imaging.
