Summary This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Chief Information Officer. The primary purpose of this Supervisory/ Branch Chief position is to serve as strategic partner to management and staff, performing a variety of duties in the following areas: Interacting with several divisions across the Information Technology Services Office. (ITSO) Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position. Responsibilities As a Supervisory Information Technology Specialist, GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include: Conducting reviews of the program and its associated projects at least monthly. Aligning programs with IT Operations Directorate/OCIO and DHS priorities. Ensuring that the interests of all IT Operations Directorate/OCIO operating, and support offices are addressed as applicable. Coordinating the submission of resource requests for the acquisition and sustainment of the network. Serving as the principal source of information for internal and external inquiries related to program planning and execution. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT This position has an Individual Occupational Requirement that must be met prior to meeting the specialized experience. Applicants must possess IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four (4) competencies listed below: Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in Federal service or equivalent private/public sector experience. For this position, specialized experience is defined as: Developing, planning, coordinating, or managing the day-to-day office operations related to an IT security program. Overseeing a team of IT professionals while tracking an IT related program's quality of performance. Performing a Post Implementation Review or Operational Analysis on a program in Operations or another IT related field. Implementing and/or maintaining effective IT security performance measures to ensure that reviews are conducted in compliance with established policies, standards, and regulations. Using extensive written communication, i.e. briefs, memos, emails, and spreadsheets to manage stakeholder relations (including contractual and supplier relationships). Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level. All requirements must be met by the closing date of the announcement.
