Axmen Feed Warehouse Manager: Miles City, MT

As one of Montana’s largest feed retailers and distributors, Axmen Feed relies on the efficiency of its fulfillment centers. We consider every regional warehouse to be a well-oiled machine that operates with a customer-centric mentality. To deliver on our promise to customers, we rely on exceptionally talented, bright, and committed people. Currently, we’re seeking a warehouse manager to oversee operations at our brand-new facility in Miles City, MT. This skilled multitasker will manage the receiving, handling, storing, picking, and packing activities of the warehouse, ensuring that quality standards are met or exceeded. The warehouse manager must achieve inventory accuracy, coordinate order fulfillment, and track shipping times for all product orders in their region. The ideal candidate is exceptionally detail-oriented and able to manage multiple facets of warehouse operations simultaneously.

Objectives of this role

Ensure that the warehouse operates at peak efficiency — with customer satisfaction the primary goal — by supervising, organizing, monitoring, and managing operational goals.

Develop long-lasting and positive relationships with customers and other local business operators.

Manage the warehouse to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals as well as exceed the expectations of our customers.

Oversee daily operations while controlling and managing inventory and logistics.

Review and prepare workflows, space allocations, equipment layouts, and action plans that meet company standards for productivity, quality, and customer service.

Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures and by complying with legal regulations.

Responsibilities

Daily warehouse activities, including quality assurance, inventory control, space management, logistics, floor productivity, shipping, and customer service.

Manage the flow and quality of work to maximize efficiency.

Develop a wealth of knowledge on our products and services and be able to effectively communicate the benefits they offer.

Sell our products and services and handle all types of transactions (C.C., Check, Cash, J.D. Financing).

Inspect equipment, tools, and machinery regularly, and oversee general maintenance when necessary.

Oversee and manage logistics for transporting products to customers and company facilities, communicating with drivers to ensure efficient delivery of products.

Required skills and qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent

Proficiency with, or the ability to learn warehouse procedures and policies

Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership qualities

Ability to work collaboratively with all levels of company staff

Ability to communicate effectively

Excellent Computer skills (i.e. Gmail, Word, Excel, basic Internet functions)

Proficiency, or ability to learn our Point of Sale and ordering applications and policies.

Preferred skills and qualifications

License to operate a forklift, or skill to earn licensure

Lift and carry: Material weighing 50–100 lbs., or 25–30 lbs. repetitively

Stand or walk: For long periods, or stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, or climb up or down ladders

See well: Naturally or with correction

Other physical requirements include:

Operating mechanical lifts, winches, or vehicles

Take inventory of materials

Store, count, weigh, and open materials

Load and unload trucks and other vehicles
