Summary:This position functions as the Equipment Operator and is expected to perform the full range of assigned duties in an independent and safe manner. This position performs a variety of skilled and technical activities in the operation, maintenance, construction, and repair of OPPD electrical transmission and distribution facilities and equipment. Responsibilities:
Operate heavy construction equipment to assist in the construction and maintenance of the District¿s overhead and underground transmission and distribution system facilities
¿ Become proficient in operating and operate heavy construction, hauling, digging, and aerial reach equipment, in assisting Center crews in construction and maintenance projects.
¿ Operate specialized construction equipment including the Condor, Cranes, Vibra Plow, production diggers, etc.¿ Deliver material to job-sites including reels of wire, transformers, switch gears, transmission poles, and other items requiring special transportation and handling.¿ Assist in transferring assignments and assist with loading and unloading material.¿ Proactively communicate with foreman, supervisor, and coworkers.¿ Works with the crew members when on an assigned job¿ Ensure company equipment and material is maintained, kept clean, and stored in a safe manner.¿ Attend vendor demonstrations, seminars, and other types of training offered either within or external to OPPD, to gain proficiency in operating various items of equipment. Learn equipment operating characteristics, specifications, and procedures from more experienced operators, through on-the-job training.Qualifications Required
High School Diploma or equivalent GED
Requires a basic knowledge of electricity and excellent mechanical ability, either through formal education or experience.
Must possess a Class A CDL at time of hire, and if applicable, restrictions removed within 45 days of hire.
Must have extensive experience in operating heavy construction equipment and have a good understanding of load charts equipment specifications, and the District¿s T&D construction operations.
Must meet physical requirements as defined by the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) to obtain and maintain a crane operator certification. Means of compliance include passing a physical examination, which includes health history, vision and hearing test, within one year of hire.
